Well all I can say is we'd better hope they don't include anything as f*&king arbitrary as the wyvern scales that open dimensional portals. Stuff like that makes a mockery of trying to play the game properly.

I think that only requires a bit of lateral thinking. Maybe it is slightly abstract but if you check a closed unstable displacement it says it is too small, but maybe if you had something to make it bigger? The term Giant scale implies it is quite large. I can certainly see the logic after the event.
Clearly someone figured it out in the first place.
Maybe a degree of luck is required though. For example, I only happened to know where to get Tavnazian Sheep Liver for a Tavnazia quest from because I happened to get one a few weeks earlier when I was killing the relevant monsters a few weeks prior for another reason.

My current bugbear is the RSE goblin. I completed my RSE quests almost 2 years ago and now when I speak to him he refuses to tell me what current race can obtain their RSE. This wasn?t a problem until S-E added a new RSE ammo item which drops from a forced spawn NM. However you can only spawn it in the dungeon where your RSE currently is when it?s your race?s turn.
Best I can tell, the only way for me to obtain this information from in game means is find a player who hasn?t completed the quest and get them to tell me the current race, which is harder than it should be.

Not sure if this will help you with your RSE problems or not as im abit of a FF n00b.
Its a firefox plugin for a Final Fantasy Clock. It tells you what time it is in game in the bottom right hand corner of you firefox window, but if you double click it you also get timers for RSE, Ballista, Day (firesday, earthsday etc.), Free chocobos in stables, Airship arrivals and Guild opening times.
For RSE it tells you the Race, Place and the time it starts. Hope this helps!
lmk.

Ooh, while I'm on this rant... an absolute blinder that had me stuck since week 1 of playing the game, over 2 years ago:
'Out of his Shell', quest given in Port Bastok:
I actually thought I'd nailed this in the early days, when I was on the fetichism mission and landed myself a shell bug from one of the quadav. It had to be this - nothing else makes sense. I ran in to the port, traded it and nothing. WTF. So I didn't have any better ideas until a couple of weeks ago, when I caved in and decided to look it up. It is a shell bug you need, but not 1, not 2, not 4.. not a stack.. it has to be exactly 3 shell bugs you trade or it just won't work, and you don't get any messages indicating whether your right one way or another... AAARGGGGHHH!

I appreciate you're trying to help, and I was aware that timers exist, but shouldn't it be possible to find out this information from in game means?
Darwock, that quest stumped me too. It is stupid. Especially as the quest giver mentions getting a (singular) shell bug I think.

Pissed off doesn't even begin to describe my current state....
Joined an ENM group at around 12-12.30, took us about about 45 mins to get to the last floor following the odd death. Now what happens here? Who decides to martyr themselves for the zone run? Why the WHM of course -_-; the imbecile doesn't use RR on himself and relies soley on blink + stoneskin. He gets more or less a few secs away from the zone point and dies...
By this point I was more or less scolding with rage, cursing the very air he breathed. "We can still do this without him" they tell me, so what does blm number 2 do? He goes outside the safety of the spire to TRACTOR A WHM WHO CAN'T RAISE HIMSELF and gets aggro resulting in his death <_<
Needless to say, my blist had 5 new occupants on it by the time we were done.Last edited by Daragon; 06-04-2006, 00:26.
