Well after discussion with Wedge about it just now, we've thought of a number of reasons why static party wouldn't work with our main jobs. Firstly, different people want to level a different amount. Personally, when summer comes, I will be churning through the levels to achieve my Lv. 75 goal . Instead, we came up with a better idea.

Basically, those interested, start a new job from scratch and level it by themselves to around level 10. Then, we form a new static party dedicated to levelling this job. We don't level this job outside of the static party, and we only level the static party at set times (eg. every Tuesday evening or whatever). This way our levels would stay the same, we wouldn't have trouble looking for parties or anything else. Another advantage is that we can create the right balance of jobs before we start, and by scheduling it we would never have problems of time wasted due to finding other members, buying equip, etc.

Of course, there would be an issue that not everybody is available at the same time, or more than 6 people are interested etc., but that is why we are starting from scratch - so that everybody can be involved, not just those of us who have jobs around level 40-50. There would be no problem involving 2 parties etc.

So what do you guys think? Post here, rather than say on the LS, because that way everybody can view it at some point rather than only those online at that time. Personally, I would either go as RDM, SMN or (preferably) BRD. Wedge also said he would go SAM.

Sounds like a plan, I wouldn't mind picking up RNG or WHM for this, although if I do WHM I won't have a good sub (blm) for it unless I level that too. Hmmm RNG/NIN is a good combo...

Interesting idea... well seeing as I am always either a WHM or BLM, I might like to try out a melee class for a change... WAR or MNK...

I'd probably choose either RNG, THF, or NIN for this, once I can unlock advanced jobs that is.

Damn fine idea. I can't take part for now, but i've got jobs at all sorts of levels (on sturn and mihki) so I might join in later.

Actually after giving it some thought, count me out. Looks like you have enough candidates for RNG (Blackbanana, Van) and when I plan to camp NM's I'll want RNG leveled up pretty quick

I'm doing well on Paladin now, Finally got out of Qufim. Made my way to Kaz yesterday, Picked up some pineapples at the vendor inside the airship terminal there and I'm crafting Juices in between fights to keep my MP up/raise cooking a bit further.
Lv 25 in 8 days. I'm aiming for at least 1 level a day, which should put me on lv 40 by the end of the month, when me and Mahl are off to Holland for a week.

Surely 1 level a day becomes impossible as the level gap continues to grow? I need 4000 to get to lvl 18 and I'm not predicting it will happen for about a week!

That's true, but that's what weekends are for (I have no life)

Up to level 50, a level a day is more than manageable.

Obviously there are many factors that can inhibit this (party efficiency, level of mobs being fought etc.) but I can't remember the last time I had a PT where I didn't level.

After level 50 the amount of EXP needed to level increases massively. Considering I am paying for everytime I decide to hit the level grind, this level 50 + period is not something I'm looking forward to

                        I think the EXP amount breaks down as: 1-50: 200,000 exp 50-60: 170,000 exp 60-75: 200,000 exp

So yes, after 50 it gets harder (also, at 50 and every 5 levels after there's a quest to break the level limit, ie you can't level beyond 50, 55, 60 etc. unless you do a certain quest.)

I leveled up twice from 36-38 in about 5 hours a few days ago, that was a really good party though.

The EXP takes a jump at 51 not 50 and once you reach 50, you can still get all the EXP -1 required for the level up. Once you've done Genkai 1 you can go out and get the 1 EXP for your ding 8)

After a discussion last night and thinking about it today, it seems that the only viable option is to have two parties, but a few of us with more time to spare than others (eg. me) I would level 2 jobs, one for one party and one for the other. If you get my meaning. It's unfair that anybody should be discluded, or made to feel unwanted, simply because more than 6 people are interested.

                              Meh.

I had a really productive weekend recently. With Rare's help, I unlocked two advanced jobs, RNG and DRG, farmed a lot (mainly from hunting elementals), managed to increase my woodworking skill a couple of lvls and added a little furniture to my Mog House.

Today, I figured I'd carry on hunting elementals to continue making money and increasing my woodworking skill. However, there were complications. I couldn't get a teleport to Mea, so I had to get to the crag the old fashioned way from San d'Oria: boat from Selbina.

I think one of the other boat passengers jinxed the trip though, as she said "I want pirates " ( ) a few minutes into the journey. Not long after:

I stayed back while the stonger characters took on the skeletons, as they read as too tough for me (lvl 30 WAR/15 MNK) to handle.

However, that tactic didn't work too well, as a skeleton aggroed me. I tried fighting it, but the inevitable result was:

After being dead for about 3 minutes, the pirates pulled away (phew) and I got a Raise from a helpful little Taru.

The Elvaan running up the stairs is the passenger who wanted the pirates. What a great idea that was.

I got to the crag not long after that journey, and managed to get a few earth and wind clusters, so it wasn't too bad. But, next time I'm on a boat and pirates appear, unless I'm a really high lvl, I'll stay in that little cabin, out of harms way.
