Now he looks very cool, and dangerous!

I bet he's tough to obtain though (assuming you can...) still, it'd be worth it.

        another one is that hes part of the armada fleet battles, and not an obtainable smn. However we can hope, getting fenrir still hasnt given me the oomph to get my smn past 61, maybe if bahamut is i might don the horn once more, until then ill be messing with my new char on seraph ^^;

Can anyone who has gone above the lvl 50 mark tell me what places are good to lvl between 50 to 60.

Also how rare are the Coffer Keys for places like crawlers nest.

I got to say I have really been enjoying all the LS stuff going on lately, doing AF Quests and getting everyones Genkai. Sometime soon we should do a group photo, I remember seeing another LS in sandoria doing this, a huge gathering all lining up in the best armour they got, it was cool.

              50 ? 52 I levelled in Crawler?s Nest and Quicksand Caves.

              52 ? 54 Kuftal Tunnel

              54+ Boyhada Tree

Coffer Keys are pretty rare and I know some people can spend hours hunting but like Genkai you can get lucky and get the drop relatively quickly.

              Personally I have coffer keys for Crawler?s Nest and Quicksand Caves which were picked up during EXP parties but I don?t need either for my AFs ;_;

              I need:

Sea Serpent Grotto (lvl54 AF) ? horrible
Boyhada Tree (lvl56 AF) ? should be easy enough to get as I will try and EXP in that area at 54+ so should get drop. The head AF is **** tho in comparison to my Emporer Hairpin
              Ifrit?s Cauldron (lvl60 AF) ? ERK! >< Evil incarnate

Here it is guys, the official announcements for July - August ( I wondered where they were) which includes the updates coming from COP too. The server update on Monday is the second 8 hour update in a row but from what I understand both of these updates are preparing for the release of the expansion hence the largeness.

Chains of Promathia, the second FINAL FANTASY XI expansion pack, is almost here!

The following version update changes are scheduled to coincide with the commencement of services for Chains of Promathia. A great percentage of these new quests, missions, items, and other updates are related to the contents of the expansion pack.

                - A new storyline will begin with the addition of Chains of Promathia to the mission menu.
                - Many new areas related to the Chains of Promathia expansion pack will be opened to players. In a similar fashion to battlefields, level restrictions will be imposed in several of these areas.
                - Four entirely new regions, as well as new areas in existing regions, will be added. It will be possible to perform searches within these new regions and areas.
                - Many new monsters will appear in the newly added areas. For further details please read the Chains of Promathia page found in the Compendium.
                - New pieces of equipment that manifest special abilities depending on their use will be introduced.
                - New escort quests will be added. It will now be possible to cancel escort quests after they have been accepted.
                - Skillchain elements and magic burst effects will be added to avatar blood pact abilities. Also, the accuracy and damage of low-level blood pact abilities will be increased.
                - It will be possible to check a pet's TP using the command <pettp>
                - The MP cost for the white magic spell Dia II will be reduced.
                - The MP cost for the black magic spells Bio and Bio II will be reduced. The effect of these spells will now be dependent on the Dark magic skill.
                - The skillchain element for the dagger weapon skill Evisceration will be changed.
                - The recast time for the paladin job ability Cover will be decreased from 5 minutes to 3 minutes.
                - The level required for paladins to learn Raise will be reduced from 75 to 50.
                - The area effect of Etude bard songs will become restricted to a single target.
                - The casting time for the bard song Goddess's Hymnus will be decreased.
                - The dragoon weapon skill Wheeling Thrust will be enhanced.
                - Several throwing weapons will become usable by dragoons.
                - The effect of the ninjutsu Utsusemi will be completely removed by area attacks.
                - The range of parameters adjustable by the Merit Point system partially introduced in the previous version update will be expanded. An exclusive menu for adjusting the settings of this system will be available only when inside one's Mog House.
                - Several system-related adjustments will be made to Ballista.
                - A new activity called "clamming" will become available on the beaches of a certain area.
                - Several key items have been added to the list of items available by trading guild points. These key items will make it possible to perform special types of synthesis.
                - Players who have reached the craftsman level in a particular synthesis skill will be able to revoke their title, making it possible to raise another skill to this level without penalites.
                - It will become possible to log into PlayOnline and go directly to the FINAL FANTASY XI main page by inserting the Chains of Promathia expansion pack disc (PlayStation 2 version), or by double-clicking the FINAL FANTASY XI shortcut (Windows version). Also, a new text command will make it possible to completely log out of FINAL FANTASY XI and PlayOnline, and exit the PlayOnline Viewer. This command will shut off the power (PlayStation 2 version), or return you to the desktop (Windows version).

Many other updates are in the final stages of testing. Further details will be announced along with the introduction of the Chains of Promathia version update. A preliminary version update is scheduled to take place in the beginning of September, before the release of the Chains of Promathia content.
Dates for maintenance will be announced as soon as they are decided. The preliminary version update will not contain changes that immediately affect gameplay.

In order to activate the contents of the Chains of Promathia expansion pack, it is necessary to complete the Expanded Services registration process from FINAL FANTASY XI's Content ID page using the registration code that coes with the North American expansion pack or the European All-in-One pack. Registering the expansion pack contents does not incur any additional FINAL FANTASY XI user fees.

This version update is timed to coincide with the official release of the Windows version in European territories, and the commencement of worldwide service for Japan, North America, and Europe.
It is predicted that with the eight-hour time zone difference between these three areas, the influx of new players will not substantially affect the maximum number of players online simultaneously in each world.

An unexplored world awaits you in Chains of Promathia. We hope you meet new friends and enjoy the adventure, as you uncover the secret history of Vana'diel.

                Best regards,
                The FINAL FANTASY XI Team

                  Erm, oh crap >_<

For those that don't know the full details of blink-tanking our shadows absorb any attack that focuses solely on us. Any attack that targets multiple opponents is not blocked and the NIN receives the damage.

When AOE magic is cast (e.g. Firaga), and the distinction of magic is important, as well as taking the damage any remaining shadows are lost. Not much of a problem as very few mobs that you EXP off use AOE magic.

However, AOE attacks (e.g. Goblin Bomb, Cursed Sphere etc.) whilst still damaging the NIN the shadows that are remaining are NOT affected. However, according to this update this will no longer be the case and AOE attacks will strip shadows too. The problem is AOE attacks are much more common than AOE magic and the potential is there to lose shadows almost immediately, multiple times during a fight.

What does this mean? Well it is difficult to say until people have tried it out after the update but my opinion is that it sounds like blink-tanking is going to be incredibly difficulty (maybe next to impossible) to pull off and with the benefits PLD are receiving in the update, it sounds like the game may have lost a tanking class.

                  Kind of sucks IMO.

EDIT - the only thing I can think of to counter this would be the introduction the San series of spells. If the pattern continues, the San series of magic would be almost instantaneous casting, with a 1 minute cooldown and would offer 5 shadows. Having 3 blink spells to cast may overcome the AOE problem somewhat. But that would be of no use to low level NINs who would have to deal with the exact same AOE attacks with just the original 1 or 2 Utsusemis).

Some good stuff in the updates, especially the Etude songs, I always disliked they were applied to all nearby. Now I can give the mages the MND or INT boost without it getting in the way of the melee songs.

It will certainly add another thing for me to do during battle.

If anyone around the 50-52 lvl wanna do some Coffer Key parties while at the same time picking up some exp let me know.

Also there was talk of a lvl 25-27 party tonight, I will know if I can do it by 6pm.

Another question - When is Bayan back, I really need to do BCNM soon, im becoming a very poor Bard.

Oh and one more question - I cannot find it - Where are the pictures you take in game saved, I know its in program files - Playonline - etc but cant find them.

Although yiu might have to swap D: for C:, or whatever the drive letter you have the game installed on.

Could it be to balance out Nin and Sam, from what I see Nin has some advantages over Sam, maybe its just to even things out a bit.

That makes no sense whatsoever. SAM is a DD, NIN is a tank. They don't need 'balancing' out. They are not comparable.

No one has a 6th PT slot left over then chooses NIN over SAM automatically. If the PT needs a tank they get the NIN, if they need a DD they get the SAM. this change would not affect that in any way.

ok, shows how much I know about melee class jobs.

I have no idea why they changed that, I hear alot about Blink Tanking, it would be good if they could give some reasoning for the changes.
