An explanation and an apology:

I could try to think of some fancy introduction to this, in order to make it easier, but I will just come out and say it.

I have been a complete PRICK over the last few days and I would like to apologise to anyone and everyone who is a member of RARGH!

Whilst I offer no excuses for my actions, I will offer an explanation as to what I was thinking and why I did what I did.

If I'm honest, I was starting to feel like RARGH! was offering nothing to me and perhaps it was time to move onto a different linkshell. I certainly had no real ill feeling towards anyone on the Linkshell (although my mental frame of mind at the time may have tricked me into thinking I did) and thought to myself that it was just a natural progression in my character's life. So on Saturday whilst making my usual trawl through Gusgen Mines, I unequipped and dropped the linkshell somehow feeling safe in the knowledge that if I needed it back i could simply say I dropped it by accident.

This proved to the be the single biggest mistake I have made in game.

It is said, that you are unable to appreciate something until it is gone and I think such a statement is especially true here. RARGH! actualy provides the fundamental backbone to the Final Fantasy 11 experience (the spine as it were) that makes everything else tick over.

Every time you have a bad PT experience, RARGH! is there to vent off at the sheer idiocy of some others and be able to laugh it off with each other that provides you with the willingness to try again.

Every time your precious character falls to 0HP and slumps to the floor, it is a good linkshell that enables you to return to that homepoint, suck up the EXP loss and continue battling once more.

Every time a pickaxe breaks and in return I get a measly 10 pebbles, I can vent my frustration on RARGH! knowing that there are other people there who have shared the same, or similar, frustrations but can help me laugh it off and keep working until I hit that precious gold ore.

It is these kinds of things that are offered by a good linkshell, and it only took me a short period of time to realise that THIS is what I was getting from RARGH! all this time. A sense of belongingness and, in an online way, friendship. I just hadn't realised it.

It is because of this, that I am apologising to each and every member of the linkshell and I hope that those members who may have found my actions to be unacceptable will be willing to give me a second chance. Yes, I do want to be part of the above again. I may be a complete idiot to actually do what I did in the first place, but I am not too proud to admit when I was wrong and I am fully aware that in this instance, I was so far wrong, I almost went full circle such that I am able to see right again.

Wehether you guys will have me back is completely up to you, and obviously I will have to stick by whatever decision it is that you make. It could be strongly argued that you will be unsure what is to stop me doing some similarly idiotic thing in the future and the answer is I guess I cannot assure you of that. What I can assure you of is that I have currently spent over 2 days without the linkshell and they have been the worst 2 days in my game life to date. I completely lacked the motivation to achieve anything and stopped playing within an hour last night. I cannot afford to risk such a thing again.

And now, a personal apology to Bayan. I would do this in game but think I got blacklisted. Mate, I have no desire to be at odds with you or on your blacklist, basically because in actuality we know each other very little. Whilst I stand by what I actually said in our short tell conversation on Sunday, I do appreciate that the way I said certain things were perhaps a little too sharp and wannabe clever for their own good. I'll admit that you caught me at a bad time and I was wound up by your remarks and responded in a bad way. Again I apologise.

However, it was agreed 24 hours earlier that the BCNM that you were to do, would be timed so as not to coincide with light or dark days so I would still be able to mine at the most profitable times. Because of this, I believe the group arranged the BCNM to start at 5pm to give yourself between 2 and a half and 3 hours to get the battles completed. I cannot understand how in that time you only managed to complete 2 but that is not important. I simply spoke with Ces at 7:30pm and he agreed that it was my turn to come on.

I was completely unaware of how many battles you had completed until you started speaking with me, which led me to ask Ces exactly that question. When I found out only 2 had been completed I agreed to let him back onto the machine as soon as my inventory got filled on my mining trip which took a little over an hour and I immediately let Ces back on to finish the battles.


So anyway, I bring to a conclusion possibly my longest ever post. I hope that you guys see fit to give me another chance and I admit that I anticipate your response with more than a touch of nervousness.

Hey Rare,

I'm really glad you posted that. I had a feeling something more was going on than just a row over who got to use the pc when.
I've never gone without the linkshell for very long but I remember playing as Supacute without one, just to see what it was like and found I didn't last long before I wanted to obtain a pearl, if only to share my new characters funny name ^^
It's like kissing a girl: it doesn't count if you don't tell another guy. : P

As far as I'm concerned you can have a new pearl this evening, apology accepted.

On a happy note, after logging out in gusgen last night, i got up at 7am, turnon ffxi and went looking for my RSE for 1hr of time i had, and at 7.53 i got it, then quickly got dressed and ran to work to be only 10 mins late

Rare, if you dont already have a new pearl by the time I log on this evening I will be in Jeuno at about 5pm - 5.30pm and can get you back on Rargh.

I think alot of us have had moments recently when Rargh has seemed a bit on a down side, sometimes not many online and some of us have gone and got different Linkshell's, I have two others which I have for my All Night Exp sessions and just to use time to time. I still find I use Rargh 99% of the time though, and recently the LS has picked up again.

Also, a big thanks to everyone who helped with my AF1 yesterday, just one example of why its a great LS, I posted about it here Sunday night and it was all ready with people willing to help for Monday evening.
