I believe I will need the Eldieme coffer key, but I'm nowhere near finishing my AF2 - still couldn't hurt to have it in the inventory.

Well, I will require help - but not until I'm around level 55. Have to kill IT++ demons in an area where most things were DC/EM/T to me at 50.. I'm hoping at 55 they will have dropped to around the T/VT level so will be more within reach of a group effort.Last edited by Darwock; 21-07-2005, 13:59.

Good call Wedge and depsite my own desires not let folks down I couldn't get on last night had other things I had to do. What we need to do is work out what we can best use to do Steamed sprouts to start with, worth remembering the set up that we had before may no longer work with the changes to ranger. Last time round toxicforce basically DDed and tanked hence the lack of any problems for us. His damage output was mental making each win a breeze. Think the ideal set up now would probably be...
BRD
RDM
WHM
DRK
PLD
BLM
Though maybe switching out the DRK or BLM for a THF or something may work, my real concern is around how to stop Flood without stun in the party. I have flat blade and shield bash but if those fail and flood goes off the odds are I'm dead meat, if we could get paralyze to stick on the black mandy that may do it?
Any ideas people?
Also anyone know any other BCNMs that would suit what we have around, think the only jobs we don't have past 40 is DRK / DRG / BST

How was everyone?s weekend. Mine didn?t match the excess of last weekend but was pretty decent.
Saturday I faced off against one of the new NMs that were added in the patch, Edacious Opo-opo. Turned out this was the guy who dropped the new piece of level 30 NIN body armour, Nanban Kariginu, which I thought would be handy for Promyvion. The NM is a forced spawn by trading Panamas to a ??? in Yhoathor Jungle. I buy 2 stacks of panamas from Kazham, chocobo over and arrive at the ??? with 2 people standing near it. I ask if they are trading and they say no so I trade a panama. I get a message saying I could entice a Opo-opo out if I had more. I trade again and same message. I keep trading and go through the first stack with no spawn. Clearly harder to spawn than I thought. My second stack starts to run out and I?m panicking but with 2 panamas left it spawns and I begin my battle, not sure what to expect.
I blind, paralyze and slow the Opo-opo and he has great difficulty removing my Utsusemi shadows. However my THF sub is hindering my damage output on my attacks so I start with elemental ninjitsu which hit for 80-100 damage per spell. At about 25% HP, the debuffs wear off and I don?t bother recasting so he is able to go through my shadows and hit me on occasion so I go down to 750HP but overall I beat it comfortably and get the drop. A nice bit of gear (Attack+3) bit the downside is it looks like a Fisherman?s Tunica >.<
You have to wait 15 minutes between spawns but a 70+ RDM tried after me and struggled from what she told me. She got hit with a strong poison attack and it cured itself for 700HP too so the fight was tough for her. Also at first we thought it was a 100% drop but I tried again later for Moot and got no drop and Apa tried 5 times with no drops so I got incredibly lucky.
Rest of the morning I levelled my Marksmanship some more outside Sea Serpent Grotto (the recent change to ranged attacks did make this slightly more difficult than previously) and got it up to 86 (unlocked Sniper Shot not that I can use it without subbing RNG >.>)
Later on me and Moot took on one of the other new NMs, Chocoboleech in Dangruf Wadi. Again another forced spawn but this one requires a rare drop off of Sheep in Gustaberg to pop. We each got a spawn item and popped the NM. Really easy fight for a lvl62 and the drop seemed to be guaranteed as we both got it and Moot and Vanicent tried again later and got Van a drop too. Drop was a Rare/EX katana Gassan (lvl15 AGI+1).
Other than that, got Woodworking to 51 (Scorpion Arrows next up to high 50s which should be quite painless) and farmed in Korroloka last night.

Well for me there wasn't much done over the weekend was away drinking beer in Wales on a firends stag do. Did manage to jump on for a while though and got back to level 56 and got wear my Gallant Coronet for the first time. Only 2 pieces of AF armour to go...
After that I retired to the woodworking guild and raised woodworking to 30, next on the list is heading out to Windurst and getting clothcraft to 22 and bonecraft to 17. Aiming to have all crafts over 30 before the end of August though I think woodworking will be my next to hit 60 along with bonecrafting. Just got to decide which one to take to 100, was thinking goldsmithing but maybe one of the others may prove more tempting.
Hoping to get another level this week and then when I hit 57 it's time to head to bedeaux and try to get my hands on a coffer key. Any help on this one will be more than welcome, sounds like the key drop rate is less than ideal.

I tried a crack at couple of the new NM around, the one near the SSG entrance in jungle drops some sort of earring and there where plenty of people around killing every sahgin around, never popped in the 1hr I camped, and ended up going with Rare to fight an new quest NMin SSG, started well, doing lots of damage to it but then it crossed attack me for 600hp, and then again to finish me off? a passing pld came and i ask for raise1, got my raise and as soon as I got up an AoE for 43 damage killed me(I raised with 38hp god dammit), down I go? then rare soon follows as it seem cross attack pass through shadows. All I?ll say is where going back and killing that thing.
Sunday i was levelling my blm to 26 and thanks to Bayan, getting my eye cluster made from the helpful Zika

Ah Tobal I?d forgotten about that Kraken thing. When we spawned it I thought it was some kind of joke. Even without having it debuffed it struggled to remove my shadows so I thought it was a really low level thing. In fact you did SA+Gekko right at the start ripping hate early on but I didn?t worry as I thought it was so weak you could handle it (it?s regular hits landed for like 20 or something). Then it did Cross Attack and you were down to half health and I started to panic.
I did what I could to get hate back but your Gekko was fair too powerful so early on. And then the second Cross Attack knocked you down and I realised we?d under-estimated this thing. (However I did laugh when you got raised and died to AOE immediately which was wrong but it was sorta funny).
Even after you died I felt safe behind my Utsusemi and a couple of his AOE attacks ignored shadows but were weak but when that Cross Attack felled me with Utsusemi active I was dumbstruck.
A killer NM and no mistake.

I spent my weekend doing more or less nothing. I did manage to get my bst to lvl 42 at one point, then I had to go and die and de-level, so that was the end of that. Joined a party for about an hour, got my blm halfway to 59 and er I spent about half an hour with my super scoop and some goldfish O_o;
On a slightly related note, I have recently discovered this highly amusing flash which I recommend people check out (no spoilers)

I'd say fairly sucessful here...
After getting my AF Boots on Thursday I was about @2000 to Lv52 where I could wear them. On Friday the invites were a bit thin on the ground but there were a few suitable people looking so started my own party. Once we had the required members we headed out to the Quicksand Caves where it turned out that I was in one of the best parties i'd ever been in. We racked up some 5000 exp in less than a couple of hours until two other parties decided to setup camp nearby - this area just doesn't support that and the WHM dc'd (and didn't return). We agreed to dispand and I headed back to Jeuno to try on my shiny red new boots!
Saturday night I decided to try a spot of farming with my new THF15 sub. Things were going OK in Pashhow Marshlands, but drop rates didn't seem any better with THF. Then another RDM arrived to farm that was > LV55 and their extra Fast Cast meant they were claiming the majority of the mobs /fume. Fed up with that game I headed to Korroloka Tunnel where pretty much the same thing was going on, average drop rates and lots of competition. So headed back to Jeuno and got myself in a Coffer Key Alliance to Eldieme Necropolis. This was more to get a feel of what would be required rather than expecting to come away with a key. There were 11 people, 9 who needed the key, several were Lv70+. Things went OK for an hour (apart from the drops!) until (and i'm still not sure how/what) we got 3 links. People were dropping like flies and despite shouts of Escape, the BLM75 used Warp. With just over 100MP left (after Convert) and facing certain death I Chainspell+Warped out...
Last night I spent a couple of hour pottering around Jeuno having been left with a massive 4k Gil after purchasing a Wind Staff. With no (genuine) party invite I head back to Bastok to get a Regional Teleport to Beaucedine Glacier and then onto Fei'yin to complete the Warp II scroll quest.
I was annoyed that on Saturday I logged on too late to go with several LS members on the Limit Break 2 quest (again) /sigh
Pending stuff!
Mission 5-1
Limit Break 2
BCNM40
RDM Subligar from COP areas
Eldieme Necropolis Coffer Key
Tsing - give me a shout when you are doing your Coffer Key hunt, i'll be happy to come along.

Drg's are fine, the only nerf they got was an abuseable TP stacks from multiple weapon skill hits(same for Monks,War using axe, and Sam?s with Polearms), where 5-8 hit weapon skills almost or did give you enough tp for another weapon skill which was clearly game breaking. Drg?s are still strong, and their dragon do plenty of DoT and the Drg polearm?s absolutely rock for + stats and damage with low delay, there only downfall is in the main armour area(body, legs, feet, arms, head).

Right then what pending things have people got then?
Shouldn't be to hard to complete 5-1 for Talizker, what we need is Akashi. I'll happily trip along as an agro magnet then we just need a second healer with Tal and we're good.
Myself I'm wating on doing Genkai 3 but to be honest I'm going to solo that anyway once I get to 59 so no big problem there. 5 - 3 is my next mission but I intend to do that with Talizker and Darwock (plus any other LS folks that want to play). The ramaining 2 AF peices I will be key hunting for soon, Bedaeux sounds horrible, crap drop rates and the mobs are 65 - 70 ish in level terms.
Last 2 I have are less major but could be fun...
1) I need a sandcharm from the pirates for my map for the Obliette
2) I want to do the party quest in Bastok that you need 5 people all under level 5 for before I run out of jobs below level 5!
What have other folks got going on?
