Final Fantasy XI Then...

24 hours later and I'm still not able to actually play the 360 version. I got a bit further in the registration process, but it's now decided to die after the page where you type in all your address details (which is a lot of fun on that rubbish on-screen keyboard).

Has anybody with the UK 360 version managed to actually register yet?

Yes but i did it on Wed.

Overall it runs smother than the beta and seems to look better.

Compaired to my PC version that maria plays its better on my 360 i think. But the Pc isnt a fantastic spec.

Reg'd mine too (360). I got that error code after almost every step but a retry worked. I used a USB keyboard BUT when you have to verify the POL name and password it kept knocking me back even though I know I typed it properly. Turns out the keyboard was, even though caps lock was not on, defaulting to entering letters in uppercase for that particular screen. Used the on-screen keyboard and got through it.

Is there much installing to go? I'm at 2 mins left on the actual FFXI install. Had to empty my hard drive of demos though as it wants 6gb of space.

EDIT: Man this is long-winded! Managed to reg all the Content IDs after numerous network errors. Finally fire up FFXI and it's updating 1783 files

This is taking forever. I'm trying to create a content ID and am being told the code I've entered is invalid! LIES!

I'd say any 360 users new to this, set aside a good 2-3 hours from the first time you stick the game in to getting into the game.

Did you register all the expansions too? I can't be bothered after the amount of time it took me to register in the first place.

Yeah but it took a while. Each one was greet with that network error. Just hit retry a few times and got through it. I was using a USB keyboard plugged into the front of the 360 though... that soft keyboard takes forever.

I'm getting less luck, it seems that 1 in every 100 retry attempts works for me =/ Determined to get this working, this is my only night off work

Anyone know of a cheap-as-chips wireless keyboard that works on the 360?

I don't know what's going on with mine now. I put in the FFXI registration code in order to get a content ID. After a load of retries to get it to go to the next page, it came up with an error saying the process had to exit. I've had an email confirming I've got the content ID, but when I try to play the game, it says I haven't.

If I try to view my content IDs I get error POL-0006, whatever that means.

I really can't get over how ridiculously convoluted this whole process is.

just had my money refunded on this game, most hassle ive ever had setting up 1 poxy game, not even a pc rpg has come close to the annoyance this game has caused.

Not sure what grief you guys are getting, install start to finish on 360 has taken 2 hours. Admittedly all my characters already exist, its a bit tweaky I guess but more than worth the hassle.

Just installing my US expansion now and I'm good to go.

Should be fairly straight forward unless things have changed...

1) Install POL
2) Update POL
3) Create POL account
3) Install FFXI
4) Update FFXI
5) Register game keys
6) Purchase content id
7) create character

Ok now the last hurdle final version update after install of the US expansion and Is hould be there.

I'm seriously beginning to hate this game. I've spent all day yesterday and all day today pressing Retry Retry Retry Retry etc. Still not there.

I've lost all enthusiasm now.
Game packed away, 360 unplugged, I'll try it again in 2 weeks or when I can be bothered. This nonsense has just made me not care anymore.

Its a shame folks have all this hassle. To be honest, a year ago every time there was an update there was a day+ of hassle but that at least seems to be a thing of the pass. I registered ToAU first time tonight and am good to go a little later /cheer.

Its worth sticking with it. I'm sure all the issues will be resolved in a day or two then there is a whole world of excitement to look forward to...
