Has anyone had any issues with FFXI recently?

My game has crashed twice in the last fortnight. Both times, the game has stopped, but the music continues. I can't move anywhere, and no controls respond.

If I press Alt+Tab, nothing happens, and the same with Ctrl+Alt+Del. The only way I can get out of the game is to turn my computer off at the wall.

I originally thought it was my antivirus, as I'd not turned off the autoscan when I recently upgraded it, but that can't have been the cause for the second occurance, as I had shut it down by then.

I also ran a filescan of all three components (PlayOnline Viewer, Tetra Master, and Final Fantasy XI) after it happened, just in case there was something wrong with the installation, but that didn't turn up anything.

Chakmool suggested that it might be my graphics card: a recent update might have made it too sophisticated for the card to handle.

I think she might be right, as everything else works fine, and the game runs without a hitch on my laptop.

Has anything like this happened to anyone else? Or does anyone have any other suggestions?

Well last night was another landmark for me in FFXI, I obtained my first piece of AF2 during Dynamis-Bastok and my second city clear. The valor coronet though not the best peice in the world for PLD marks another step forward for me in getting myself geared up for end game.

2 cities to go (Sandy and Windy) and hope to see some gloves and feet as I go.

Today I'm a happy Paladin.

You must be part of a massive, and I do mean massive dynamis LS to have lotting rights on a 2nd run, or is dynacore not points based?

Dynacore is massive and it is points based, there were 5 Paladins on the run. 3 had alpha rights but all had the piece, I was the only person in lotting group 2 so I got it as the other PLD was a trial member. I've done 4 runs now 2 x Qufim Island, Jeuno and Bastok...

A couple of pieces went to free lots, BST and something else. I skipped Dynaeclipse as it just seemed so disorganised.

Probably helped me that a Xarcabard Clear was running afterwards so many of the LS were signed up to that. Only had 2 full allies and a part of the 3rd.

Not wrote anything in a while, so here?s the rundown.

*Saotome Haidate ? my first dib in windy on a NA Tuesday run(12:30-4am) nets me the legs
*Saotome Kabuto ? a trip with the NA run on Saturday nets me the hardest piece of all relic pieces to get in Xarcabard. This completes my relic gear in 23 dynamis runs (rest are bonus points for attendance totalling 27)
*KS30 goes well but the drops are crap.
*Complete Sheep in Antlion Clothing ENM for a crap drop
*COR 23-26 Sunday
*COR 27-31 Tuesday


I understand Tali?s to be back this week? If so we should look to complete CoP Friday and Sunday? (away Saturday for wedding)

I'm away all weekend on a Stag Party in Barcelona, we fly out tomorrow and I'm not back till late on Sunday. Have to look at CoP after that...

Sounds like playonline have taken another shot at the botters and 3rd party tool users - another 1400 odd accounts have been suspended today apparently.

Cor starting to hit my wallet, seems I?m going through 2-3 stacks of bullets a level past 30 ><, im going to have figure out the bullet pouch recipe and buy crap loads of bullets from norg.

Needed a time out last night, ended up lvlin Blm to lvl 5 before i logged off. I found it quite enjoyable which surprised me, so decided im going to lvl it a little more on and off to help break up Drk.

I hopefully have CoP 2-3 with a mission linkshell ive picked up on alla as id really like to finish CoP for that Raja's Ring.

Ive gone from 68-73 quite fast I feel and its taken a little enjoyment out of the game, so gonna do some missions and quests to bring the enjoyment back. Although i do need to hit 37(War) and 74(Drk) so that I can continue Dynamis with Dynacore. Anyone doing the Saturday Sandy run?

Yes, I very much want to push ahead with the Missions and obtain Rank 10. I am on 7-2 now with DJ but of course will assist with 7-1 when we are ready to move.
