(The idea of limited charge items is a bit of a turn off for me)

In terms of costs for BLM that I know of and I'm by no means an expert:

All 8 elemental staves (HQ are nice but no required)
Ancient Magic (Flood, Burst, Quake, Tornado, Flare, Freeze)
Sleepga 2
Rings (Int +3 jobbies at 54 though others may well be better)
BLM AF I don't think is widely used, not sure what is instead

WHM
Light staff
MP+ gear by the bucket
Not much else I can think of as WH AF is nice, only big thing worth using instead is the Vermillion Cloak

So I'd say that WHM should be the cheeper.

Just to make a note to add to tsing's evaluation of blm gear. I still don't have all of the ancient magic as I've never encountered a situation where its really needed. You won't be using it in exp parties, you won't be manaburning until late 60s/early 70s and out of the many BCNM/ENM/mission fights I've done, there's quite simply been no call for it.

I probably will complete my repetoire eventually, but at 75 ancient magic tier 2 spells work out at a much cheaper, much better alternative all round.

As for blm armor, most of the AF is used with the exception of the boots (if you're a hume, the lvl 20 odd RSE boots will last you more or less until 75) until 68 when you get your black cloak, unless of course you obtain the Shaman's cloak which is an NM drop which would replace your af body and hat pieces.

Dynamis Sandy clear after a awful run of dieing for me and 2 wipes! Logged soon after dynamis is really a killer. A 4 towns cleared now thou.

Ding Drk74!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I look that little bit better now for A&D ^^ 6 and 1/2 hours and 28k exp!

Be careful using the aH as a guide, there's a lot of rare/ex gear that will start to come into play that although free the AH equivalent can cost a small fortune.

Jumped in a OHat grp, all is going well but still not managed to get my go yet and 1 person has already droped >< Heres hopin.

1:30am update, still no hat >< no fails yet thou. Late spawn due to fighting about new and old members doing /random. sigh.

2:30am No hat still, pty disband >< sigh. 3 members didnt get a hat due to members DC'in and (I'm sleepy).

Anyways after last nights O-Hat nightmare, I said to Yen that I would still be organising a run for a week on Sunday even if I got my hat. Members so far.

Remember Tali has restricted playing hours so you may find you'll need to be after 20:30 for him to join us. Take it last night went the way of most pick up runs, badly.

Problem is most of the people doing them belong to poor LSes as good ones that can do this run tend to kick them out for being jerks. It's a problem with a lot of pick up activities that you tend to get the detritus of the server more often than not. Every now and again you get luck y and get a goup like yourself but its the exception rather than the rule.

Well ready for CoP tonight, itching to get it done.

My 1M Gil which I was toying with the idea of buying a cluster is now a little over 200k thanks to Maat so whether I buy or farm, the cluster is sometime off. Tsing is right, I can't attend events before 8.30pm any day i'm afraid.

I will of course be able to help out on the Hat run if it is at a suitable time, even if I haven't got a cluster.

8:30pm on a Sunday evening for a O.Hat run is not a good idea at all (especially with the high number of hats you want).

I know for a fact Moot wouldn't be able to attend such a run for very long so unless people are willing for his cluster to go first then literally log off after obtaining his hat (which would lead to similar kinds of comments to when a similar thing happened for his Rutter Sabatons) I think he would have to pass.

Indeed. You will be better doing it in the comfort of the day sometime with the folks that really want the Hat. I can and will live without it and you don't need my help, just offering to help if I can.
