It's ok, alot of what you've choosen is ancient tech, Athlon, ?30 motherboards etc. I've rejigged some of it, CPU, RAM, Cooling and Motherboard. It's still not amazing and you could probably do slightly better but it seems pretty fair for the price.

Sort of getting to the point now where ive recovered from my release date review reads, and now want to give the game a shot, after all SE are in the patching groove etc.

What server are you forum chaps on?

Might pick it up over the weekend - hell i like being punished anyway, XI was always great because of its challenge.

Daragon, I would reccommend getting something like this http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/p...B-I5764GH.html

Its a slightly better version CPU than I have, 4gig Ram, 750 Watt PSU etc, basically parts that hold up well for gaming, and as the basics will do just fine for FFXIV.

Only thing you'll need is a new Graphics card sometime which you can add later when you can afford it, maybe a Geforce 460.

As it doesn't come with Harddrives or DVD drives, if you already have Sata drives you could just use your old ones with it or pick up one new cheap enough, also you may need a new windows license, but its possible you could ring up MS and get them to give you a new code, say something like your pc broke and you've had to replace the motherboard.

What graphics card do you currently have?

A 750W PSU is massively overkill though, just watch the money bleed out of the bottom of the case otherwise It seems like a good idea.

does a PSU always draw full power? i'm not actually sure if it just uses it if it needs it, Surely just using win 7 for general use would not be drawing more than it needed?

liking it so far, not really as terrible as people say (although the market wards are insane)

Has anyone given you a Linkpearl yet, if not let us know your character name and we'll get you one, it'll help you get going as alot of people have crafting skills which can help you get gear to get started with.

                    Update from Lodestone

Thank you for your continued interest in and support of FINAL FANTASY XIV.

While more than two months have passed since the official launch of FINAL FANTASY XIV service, we deeply regret that the game has yet to achieve the level of enjoyability that FINAL FANTASY fans have come to expect from the franchise, and for this we offer our sincerest of apologies.

After thorough deliberation on how to meet those expectations, it was decided that the most viable step was to approach improvements under new leadership and with a restructured team.

To realize this vision, and in doing so, provide our customers with a better game experience, we have assembled our company?s top talent and resources. Taking over the role of producer and director is Naoki Yoshida, a passionate individual for whom customer satisfaction has always taken top priority. Not only is he one of our Group?s most accomplished and experienced members, Naoki Yoshida is also a charismatic leader possessing the skill to bring together and effectively helm a team which encompasses a wide range of responsibilities. We also welcome several new leaders handpicked from other projects to work with the existing talent on FINAL FANTASY XIV.

We realize time is of the essence and are fully determined to provide our customers with quality service. It is because of this that we ask our customers to be patient until we are able to confidently present them with a concrete plan outlining FINAL FANTASY XIV?s new direction. The free trial period will be extended until that time.

Regarding the PlayStation 3, it is not our wish to release a simple conversion of the Windows version in its current state, but rather an update that includes all the improvements we have planned. For that reason, we have made the difficult decision to delay the release of the PlayStation 3 version beyond the originally announced date of March 2011.

The FINAL FANTASY XIV team is working hard to bring our customers an unparalleled adventure, and we ask for your continued understanding and support as we march ever diligently towards that goal.

                    President and CEO, Yoichi Wada

Jesus, that's a drastic announcement - not going to fill anyone with confidence either, maybe they should 'restructure' the PR and marketing team while they are at it

Well, that's just great - ANOTHER PS3 delay. Any more and they may as well not release it, latecomers will be rather far behind everyone else. They want more than a simple conversion do they? Will anything other than that be possible on the PS3?

I hope this experience has taught them a serious lesson. Wouldn't surprise in the slightest if it doesn't though.

It's surprising they're so frank about it given the way they've been (at least publically) slightly in denial about the extent of the problems with the game.

Guess the game is haemorrhaging money and they can't give the shareholders a nasty surprise.

I hope they don't go stealling 11's new dev team since the old 11 team went on to **** up 14, as there doing wonders with the game right now i can find any reason ay all to log into the boring aimless rubbish that is 14 now i've sorted out the pc problem out (it was the ram, afterall).

The PS3 launch is important, the PC one was incredibly damaging so the further they can get away from that the better. Even without the delay you'd probably find something to complain about, like getting a half finished product of something I wouldn't be suprised if they haven't been working on the PS3 version at all though, since focus is fixing the existing PC one. A new team is harsh but there's was little other option, they really screwed up.

The XIV battle director is now the recent XI director :-/

I too hope that XI doesn't get the shaft out of all this. I'd rather they left XI alone and great than sacrifice it for the vague hope of XIV becoming the massive hit they want it to be...
