Well the masses spoke out so Retro Core 17 is now at a much nicer picture quality level than before. The price??? Well, no more 300 odd meg files. Volume 17 is a whopping 537Meg !! Still not too bad for 1 hour 20 minutes at a nice image quality even at full screen. Of course the DVD blows it away so buy buy buy !! It's being uploaded to http://www.archive.org/ right now but probably won't be ready until Thursday. The FTP downloads will be available from February 10th.

Good to see the quality has gone up again, Yakumo. It's just a little (37mb :P ) too big for me to grab, but I look forward future issues!

I've pretty much (save the odd few episodes) caught up with all the volumes now and have thoughroughly enjoyed them all! Looking forward to the new N64 stuff coming through now you've got your setup on the go. There's plenty of titles that I know (and don't know but would like to know more about) that are very much in the spirit of what Retro Core is all about .

The new style opening which will be used from Retro Core 18 is now available to watch on Google Video. The version on Goole video is pretty much complete buty looks a bit jerky in places due to the way Google Video changes the video for streaming. Check it out !! - http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...8&q=retro+core

yakumo what game is issue 18's intro taken from? Is it any good?

The graphics are taken from Illusion City for the Mega CD. It's an ok'ish sort of RPG I guess. Looks more like a Japanese 90's PC game than a console game though. Sort of like the stuff you'd find on the X68000. I thought about just ripping the intro then overlaying subtitles but that's just pure lazy and not right in my book. So I ripped some art from it then set to work on editing the art and building the intro using flash.

This month saw the release of what quite possible could be the second to last Dreamcast game ever ! Now while Retro Core is a retro based show we still class the beloved Dreamcast as Retro since the mainstream sites don't want to talk about it any more. So what does this mean? Yes, you guessed it ! Radirgy the new Dreamcast shooter is featured in Volume 18. Not only that but Dreamcast fans are going to love the special feature on the wide screen Treamcast. The Dreamcast clone from China. What else is featured in volume 18? Take a look below to find out.

Currently watching Retrocore 18. Love it. Im sure these shows are a labour of love for you Yakumo, cause I can feel the love watching them. And even though I often disagree with you, Im always happy to disagree with you ...if that makes sense

Im sure thsi has already been bought to your attention, but your comment that 'Treasure made only one N64 game' is incorrect. They developed 3 N64 titles.

Bangaioh - before the DC version tarted it up (in a good way)

Yuke Yuke Trouble Makers - which you review in Volume 18. But why no boss fight footage Yakumo?? Its a treasure game after all....

Sin & Punishment - Amazing on-rails shooter. The next N64 game you feature should be this gem. If you dont love it I'll be very surprised. Great box art as well.

You comment on the N64's characteristic blurry 3D graphics. Indeed that is/was the case. But despite the blur the N64 is home to some very beautiful games. And I view the blur more favourably with hindsight than I do the Playstation's polygon tearing & bending. And though Ive never owned a Saturn (shoot me now) from the footage youve shown on retrocore it had a number of gfx quirks as well.
I just hope every N64 game review doesnt have you mentioning how ****ty and blurry everything is. To me its like watching old black & white movies and feeling the need to comment on the distinct lack of colour.

BTW - with the XBOX 360 now out, how long till we start seeing XBOX titles on Retrocore ? (hee hee). Start with JSRF and Gunvalkyrie

It's always good to have an opinion of your own As for labour of love, that's not the case at the moment. Currently working on the new Saturn shooting special and RC19 at the same time. The problem is that I can only get about 5 games per night done which may sound a lot but when you consider that the Saturn has over 50 shooters it's dragging on

Yes, I know Yet again the signs of fatigue show through on Retro Core. That yuke yuke troublemakers section was done at 3am or there about. After I had edited it then saved it as MPEG 2 I noticed that I didn't de-interlace it plus said that there was only 1 Treasure N64 game when that very day I was playing sin & punishment. That may be the next N64 game to feature but I really want to do one of the Castlevania games even though they are meant to be complete turd.

You don't own a Saturn !!??!! You haven't lived mate Seriously I know that the N64 has some really nice stuff on it since my brother was a N64 nut so I got to see quite a fair few games. I just don't like the blur however. Looks ok on a small TV but put it on a big TV and things start to look pretty ugly. Still, every machine has it's own graphical problems like you mentioned. The PlayStation is by far the worst with it's awful polygon bending. The Saturn also has than but no where near as bad. The Saturn's main one is stretching polygons as the get closer to the screen.

No plans at all to add XBOX since it's still pretty much main steam with new games coming out. I only added the Dreamcast because nobody covers it any more. It's sort of stuck in limbo land between retro and modern.

Holy crap, Yakumo! You're a retro game reviewing machine! I've watched and loved all the previous episodes so I imagine I will enjoy these latest ones too. My 8Mb ADSL upgrage can't arrive soon enough

                              Great stuff man!

I tried to download the show twice and each time it came to a halt around the 70% mark. Do you know if there's a working download yet Yakumo?
