Stuff from the last few weeks.
Neo stuff, the blazing star i've actually had a while but the rest is new.
Bunch of cheap MD games and I picked up the mouse from a new game store yesterday (more on that later).
Ace games below
DDP is a much prettier thing on the PS1 than on the Saturn, that's for sure. Reckon this time around it's a keeper.
Dimahoo, neads a bit of a clean at some point.
So the Dimahoo was a catch. Yet another retro/import game store opened in Paris (retrogame-shop, it's been mentioned here before in association with the Game Museum and Retro Game retro mags) and this time it's really rather good indeed, probably the best I've been to outside Japan.
If anyone's been inside somewhere like Super Potato or Trader then you'll be able to visualize it - loose consoles piled up in racks, Neo-Geo CDs on the floor, consoles plugged in with people playing them, 100s of games all tightly packed on shelves spine-on (so the PCE section is bloody awkward to browse without katakana skills) so apart rom a few more expensive items nothing is behind glass doors where you can't thumb them.
Very neat place, great game selection, fluent english and very friendly. Only about 12 square meters in size too so it's jam-packed.
It happens to be opposite a good Brit/Irish bar too called The Bottle Shop, so after leaving with my mouse and downing a few over there I obviously decided I wasnt going home without buying something else
I mentioned to the guy I wasnt really after anything inparticular right now except a Dimahoo, to which he went downstairs and reappeared with a bunch of CPS2 B boards and that was that

Originally posted by nekroxideGeoff, is that Scrambled Valkyrie Macross in the top right? I've heard good things, how does it play?
The action gets hectic quite quickly, it's a decent challenge & control is nice & tight. Whilst for me it doesn't usurp Area 88, it has a lot going for it & is definitely recommended.

What were the prices like? If they're cheap then I may have to book myself a holiday and get over there.
ALSO: You've got some of my favourite Mega Drive games there. Phelios in particular as it was one of the first imports I ever bought.

The prices there seem in general to be better than the other Paris retro/import shops (of which there are 5 others I know of - plenty) and I'm sure a lot of this comes down to the store size (tiny like I said) and there being just two people working there - Regis the owner and a girl. The prices are higher than ebay which is very much the norm these days, quite a bit so with the SFC games, MD wasnt so horrible while I couldnt be bothered going through all the PCE CD games and payed no attention to the likes of Wonderswan, NGP or AESDidnt look at the console prices but what was there looked in good nic.
Stuff I saw in the store that I can remember:
35? for Night Raid (another at 38?), both with spine & looking minty.
40? for Gunners Heaven, no spine.
75? for Panzer Bandit.. can't remember the condition.
115? for Radiant Silvergun, no spine (on promotion).
75? for Battle Garegga, no spine.
50? for Castlevania Chronicles, spine and mint looking.
45? for Umihara Kawase
And there's obviously prices on their website too where they've Little Ralph, Harmful Park etc. So yeah, as is the norm it's still cheaper to go through ebay or forums but it's not going to totally break the bank like some of the other shops around here.

Got myself a blue camo Neo geo Pocket Color with Neo Turf masters over the weekend. Lovely little thing, although must get some more games for it.
Also found a copy of Marvel vs Capcom 2 (PAL DC) for ?4.99 - I own the Jap version already but couldn't resist that. All the characters can be manually unlocked by playing the PAL version, so I may keep it and unlock them myself!
And finally, thanks to my man carbon boy, a copy of Harmful Park should be winging it's way to Casa Smith at some point in the not too distant future. ****in' A!
