So I am guessing it is probably a port somewhat.
Apparently, "Jeff Wayne himself produced the musical arrangements for the game, consisting of 45 minutes of material from Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of the Worlds re-scored and remixed in a newer electronica style with techno beats."
Probably similar to the ULLAdubULLA Remix work I imagine.

In fact, the music takes up 63% of the disc space(With movies taking up 30% of the space and the rest would be what I assume, game data)

I won a UK SNES in fairly good condition from a local seller for ?5.60, yesterday. Sadly, it appears to be dead (will try replacing the internal fuse when I get the parts I need), but it's still an amazing price - all parts included! I've seen SNES after SNES go for a minimum of ?20 in the last week, so I'm very happy.
Will post a picture when I've modified it/determined its cause of death.

This was the first Super Famicom game I ever owned, personally I still regard it as one of the finest home console racers ever made. The visuals are a bit sparse today but the presentation and music are amazing - the soundtrack to this game is beyond awesome.
I also managed to pick up the sequel recently for peanuts off eBay, never played it before though, and I seem to recall it getting dodgy reviews back in the day.
Mean Machine's review of the original is what inspired me to get it all those years ago.
