      It's actually Japanese but I have no idea about the Pal box... I just bought it that way. I got all the Dreamcast stuff (except for Revolt) from a guy on rllmuk for ?20 inc. postage which i thought was pretty good. To be honest it's normally the type of thing that would send my OCD into over drive but I don't really mind for some reason.

        Already shown my JPN Megadrive, but my JPN Mega CD arrived last week so it's now all set up, picked up a turbo 6 button pad and Dennin Aleste as well.

        Also managed to get an XRGB-2 from Yahoo JP auctions for what I thought was a good price at ?35, it lacks some of the extra stuff from the later models but the picture from the Megadrive looks excellent hooked up to a monitor.

          Did you use one of those services (shopping mall japan etc) for buying off yahoo jp mate? Trying to decide which one to use!

            I've seem many Dreamcast controllers and VMUs sold here in Japan in blue PAL boxes. No idea why but maybe Sega ran out near the end of the systems life and decided to sell the PAL ones in Japan since they weren't selling in the west? Just an idea.

              Yes, I use Japan Auction Center, no idea if their the cheapest though, couldn't really be bothered comparing prices, from the few things I've bought it's probably only worth using Yahoo JP for things that are really hard to find on ebay or seriously over priced because by the time you've paid all the fees and delivery it can work out pricey unless you get the item for next to nothing, my XRGB-2 was advertised as Junk so no one had bid on it, luckily it worked though.

              I was trying to see if Panorama Cotton was any cheaper on there but by the time everything was added it worked out around the same price as one on ebay.

                Now THAT is a setup to aspire to! I think Yahoo Jp is the only way to go for a Jp Mk1 MCD as they never show up on eBay. Let us know how it's going and we can start a Mega CD appreciation thread. I've just picked up Shining Force CD for mine so the SNES is taking a back seat for now

                  Cheers, I'll probably start a thread later today as well as asking for non PAL recommendations as I played most of the UK stuff back in the day so more interested in the games I haven't tried yet.

                  Shining Force CD is awesome, will probably have to pick up a ram cart before I buy that as I seem to remember it taking up most of the system ram. I also tried buying Snatcher earlier this week and still didn't get it despite bidding ?100, wish I'd never traded mine in now all those years ago

                    Yeah, you'll need the RAM cart for Shining Force - I think you need to have two save files to complete the entire game and one file along fills your internal RAM.

                          Christ that is a lot!!! I managed to acquire a PAL copy for ?56 odd on eBay around a year ago. I got royally stitched with Shining Force CD though as I paid ?80 inc shipping for a US copy and it's in poor condition. The disc itself looks like it's been attacked with a scourer! It seems to work fine though.

                          I had to plump for a US copy over PAL because of the memory cart issue. My Multimega has a CDX main board, meaning it boots into the US bios. As I would have needed to use my Mega Cart to play the PAL version I wouldn't have been able to use a memory cart at the same time.

                              Wasn't there a third story as well once you completed those two, never got the chance to play that one as I never had a ram cart at the time to store both saves on.

                              I'm still not sure whether to go with a Mega Cart at the minute for that exact reason, although I may just get the JPN version of Shining Force as it's not too story heavy for it to be playable.

                              @garrz32, cheers

                              This just arrived today
