You say that now...I don't regret getting them as they cost next to nothing but the overall feeling was one of overwhelming disappointment. They're just not worth the trouble these days, unless you find a mint unit (that hasn't been worn out through being hired for years) and wire up some external pots for the controls on the internal PCBs. The 1440 has them all neatly arranged in rows near the back but the 2730 had them all over the place inside- standing behind one with a plastic screwdriver and adjusting the picture in a mirror gets very tedious, very quickly. I can understand why people use things like PVMs for cabs as they're adjusted for a specific setup but mucking around with multiple consoles and the RGB shifting will be annoying after a while.

Only gonna get a 14" one btw.

The 1440QM is a cute little set. I'm thinking about using mine with a SCART distributor as a permanent TATE screen for shooters, unless I use the PC monitor and my XRGB-3 instead. (Setup is in a real flux with decorating.) Unfortunately they don't seem to pop up on eBay that often but I think that it might be the only 14" PVM with a SCART input.

Yes, for the sake of convenience, I'd probably settle with one of the later Sony TV's that have the 'RGB shift' option. The pro monitors can be somewhat hit 'n' miss, although some of the more recent JVC and Panasonic 20" models (like this one), have an on-screen menu system with basic image centering controls .
I have found that the controls are a bit conservative, and don't always centre the image perfectly, although they do offer full NTSC support, S-Video, and Component Video. IIRC Barco and Ikegami also manufactured similar-spec monitors.Last edited by Oldgamingfart; 11-07-2011, 12:36.
