The mods are the same for all MD2s regardless of machine, if that's what you mean. An MD1 is easier to mod than an MD2, though – you have to lift chip legs on an MD2.

It got nicked along with my gameboy color and a stack of other cartridges when I was at school one day. I didn't realise, but it turned out the game is very rare, and I spent a couple of years searching ebay and saw nothing, until one sprang up a couple of months ago and I jumped on it. Box was a bit knackered, but luckily I still had my own 10 year old box in mint condition.

It's a cool game, you're stranded on a desert island and you have to survive long enough to be rescued (or not), as there are several different endings. There's a lot of the island to explore including caves and such. Of course, you'll need the right equipment; can't go searching a cave without a torch, but naturally, you have to make any such equipment out of materials you can salvage from the beach, or find lying around in the forests etc. It's a very interesting game, and also has some great sprite-work, well worth a good go on, if you can find a copy, that is.

I didn't realise there was a sequel on the gameboy color until I saw copies of both in Sofmap, or that the series had turned into lost in blue. Sadly,I believe the lost in blue series is supposed to be a bit duff. I should have picked up those copies in Japan, but, seriously, the jap artwork sucks so much ass, I couldn't bring myself to do it. Have fun with it though Adam, it's one of those gbc games that's actually worth the (sizeable) bother of tracking down.
Cheers Sorrel! It really was worth the effort tracking this one down, like yourself it had been on my want list for a good long time. However the US Box art/cart label was naff and the name was different too, so ive been waiting patiently for it to finally surface.
Its a shame there isnt a fan translation for SK2

For the first time ever I was greatful for a seller keyword spamming the search, he wrote at the end of the auction 'like Azure Dreams', which I was currently searching for.

Seriously though, this game is a complete underdog. Its one of the best games ive played in a long time. As youve already put a pretty good description out there, ill elaborate on it.

One of the reasons this game is good is due to the lack of in game help youre given. Youre completely left to what you can find, merge and use to advance (while eating/drinking/staying alive), simulating a survival experience. This is enhanced by tiredness, poisionous foods, danegrous animals and various obstacles in your way.

As you rightly say, Lost In Blue has nothing on this... And if any LIB fans reading this, go back to its roots and play this! But as mentioned, its not easy to find

EDIT: Just for the record, there arent many games where you can hit Ducks with hammers & poision Alligators. However this is one of them!

Some random recent buys over the past few weeks. Geist is a surprisingly detailed, clever little game.

I always read the negativity in the reviews. Sorry. It was a FPS exclusive?

                    Comment

Not really a FPS per se, it was as much of one as Metroid Prime was. It had a lot of good ideas just let down by some of the execution. I think my review on here concluded as much.

Played this as a kid at a friends, but never ever completed.

Banged it on to check it works and the music hit me..it sounds fantatsic!

The game in question is..Gremlins 2. NES.

Will make a change for me as the last 3 games I have played have been side-scrolling.

isn't gremlins 2 a sidescroller? it was on the gameboy. second game i ever got for my gameboy i think, it was tough, even with the game genie.

I think the majority of the game is a top down view if my memory serves me correctly. Nice graphics for its time. Its been a while though...

Will start it after my liquid lunch

I went on to read your review

Sounds like I should of at-least given this a try. Maybe I will now.

Gremlins2 is a great little underated gem. You are right every level is indeed played in a top-down perspective. I thought the graphics were really colourful and stylish for their time, the animated story scenes are particularly good IMO. The music is also fantastic.

Having completed the game recently though I must warn you the game gets difficult quickly and some of the platforming sections get very frustrating at times.

When you go to the shop during each level you should always try to buy an extra life, or the 'P' item

which improves the capability of the weapon being used

                                (

                                your weapon changes every chapter

), you will definetely need each one.
