It should arrive from Japan tomorrow or Friday, but I picked up a few titles this week to kick start me. Not Nintastic levels of mint, but pretty tidy.

Sweet Love the Super Famicom. I've been thinking about getting one myself recently; only slight concern being the battery back-up factor, though I understand new batteries can be fitted relatively easily. When I get my head around this I might treat myself to a system with F-Zero

Well, machine arrived from Japan today, as well as two boxes of games from my trade with Nintastic. Shame the RGB scart lead isn't here yet. Haven't unpacked the games yet, but here's the system.

Yeah, well happy considering it was under £50.

Boxed, in that condition? I need your contacts...

Not strictly retro (or is it?) but my SLG-3000 scanline generator arrived through the post today:

Very pleased, can't wait to try it out with a few retro consoles and the PS3 via the HDBox Pro.

Ooooooooh tell us more, those scanlines are lush. So can you use than wonderbox on anything?? or just certain consoles?

Anything that outputs over VGA. Preferred input resolution is 640x480 but it's running at 1024x768 in the above pictures. There's a very informative thread about it over at the shmups forum. The best part is that it runs passively, so there's no extra plug in the overburdened adapter living under my desk. You can wire an on/off switch to it too, and it has a potentiometer so you can vary the intensity of the scanlines with a simple twist of the knob.

No great mystery mate, hit-japan on eBay, it was £49. He's a bit crazy with his pricing, you'll get a bargain like that, and then he'll have an unboxed tatty one for £5 less!

Unboxed all the super famicom games Nintastic sent me now. Technically I like to think of these as free as we did a trade. (well, there was no money exchanged!) I'll only post up what were the main highlights for me, but this is about half of what I got from him........

Area 88 is awesome, shame there was never a proper sequel. There was a perfect opportunity too, with the 12 part series that came out in 2005.

Remember skiving from school just to play Area 88, classic game.

Still envy the earlier picture of Devil Crash, badly regret selling it on (at least twice), it also has one of my favourite soundtracks.

My dream retro acquisitions would be a Super Famicom and lots of the big classic gamess, all in eye-catching Japanese packaging. I'm quite jealous.

Same here. It's one of the consoles I've never really collected for (always concentrated on Sega stuff) but there are some great games for it. Also, the Japanese packaging does look soooooooooooooo good.
