my ngpc was bourght at launch in the uk and it kept me amused on many a train journey, i spent a lot of time traveling from uni in carslile to leeds, so it got lots of use. Metal slug one and two were fantastic little games, and games like neo turf masters and motm have kept me playing this for ages.

Regardless of how badley the launch was fudged i still wouldent go back and buy a gameboy colour there was just something special about the neo geo pocket that kept me playing it up until and well after the gba came out.

what about the horroscope function how many conslole could tell you where your money, health and love were at.

anephric/hank> GameFAQs has what seems to be a fairly useful (if incomplete) guide to the main Joinas mode in CCJ. It's the first of the two here. Doesn't give any explanation of the link-up bonuses, though. Maybe you need to complete both games before the unlockables become available, Metroid Prime/Fusion-stylee.

Actually, scrub that. It's pretty useless. The only really handy bit of info it contains is that you need to do well in the clapping minigame in front of people *before* talking to them, in order to get them to jam with you.

Puzzle Bobble and Puyo Puyo? Check mostly on both systems (Puyo Puyo on WS, Puyo 1 & 2 & Sun on GB, Puzzle Bobble, taller then wide screen? certainly sir on the Wonderswan), Magical Drop sir? Wonderswan sir? Suit you sir.

Fighters? GB had a number called Deadheat Fighters that included KOF, FFRB, Toshinden, Samurai Spirits all played as well as most of the fighers on the Neo Geo Pocket.

Puzzle games? Feel free to count the number of decent puzzle games on one hand for the Neo Geo Pocket...

Why did the Neo Geo Pocket fail? Well in Japan after SNK spent ages working on the machine they decide to release it on the 27th of October 1998, sadly they ballsed that up as Nintendo release the Gameboy Color on the 21st of October 1998 which meant that apart from SNK fanboys the general public generally bought the Gameboy Color as it 1) had more software (even ignoring backward compatability) and 2) It had color... Cue 5 months down the line when SNK release the Neo Geo Pocket Color and yet again it gets ignored and why was that? Ah the release of the Bandai Wonderswan a few weeks earlier, seems the SNK didn`t have much luck at getting releases. The lack of third parties doesn`t really help either as most of them signed up to Nintendo and or Bandai... A few token guestures from Sega, Capcom and Taito don`t do much either... And 100,000 Units sold in the UK? So? If an average game sells 20,000 units then that`s hardly going to raise that much money for new project now is it... Might pay for two of the programmers salaries...

In all fairness the SNK were doing stupid mistakes (Hyper Neo Geo 64 anyone...) and were losing money faster then you can say `Atari in 1983`, the Neo Geo Pocket should have been better thought out and a more cohereant plan of action been thought up...

Still the Wonderswan only ceased last year...

What a shock. MD disagrees with everyone. Again.

My pink WSC is far prettier as a paperweight and makes me hungry when I look at it.

              I want to eat it.

Boo.... I love my WSC nearly as much as my NGPC but, admittedly I have a fetish for these sorts of things... you can't deny that (at the time) the WSC's screen and button layout had loads of potential... if, perhaps, not the horrid little buttons themselves... and WS Beatmania (with silly little turntable that barely works) is ridiculously appealing.

Sure..the WSC had potential..just never really lived up to it imho..perhaps I'll dig it out and give it the once over again.

I have both, and the lack of playable games on the WS is a real pain in the arse, great little machine, no doubt. IF you can read kanji.

Metal Slug on the NGPC remains the premier highlight in handheld gaming for me and Neo Turf Masters is the runner up.

Get the machine just for those 2 games.

Is Beat Mania compatible with all WS or just the original. I thought that was the case, why I never picked it up

One Piece Battle Colluseum is badass, worth getting a 15 quid WSC for

I got quite excited rooting around Derby market today when I found a mint, new Final Fantasy WSC boxset... thinking I could snag a bargain I feverishly asked how much he wanted for it - ?50.

Nope. Couldn't even talk him down a tad as he kept saying he could snag ?70 on eBay. I've had it for less than ?25 off the bay of fleas before...

Boo. Would've been my excitement for the day.

Yeah, if it came with 40 quid attached to it

I was going to say that to him but I lacked the cajones. I did say I'd give him ?30-35ish but he sneered.

Bastard. I needed cheering up today and a prettily coloured dead handheld would've been just the ticket...
