I'm a big fan of Super Tennis and Tennis games in general. I think Super Tennis was way ahead of it's time, wiping the floor with other mainstream tennis games.

However I found it a little flawed when played to a high level against a human opponent. It seems that all rallies get stuck into a battle of increasly ridiculous cross court angles.

Don't get me wrong I love this game but this "flaw" did annoy. The perfect tennis game had yet to made in my opinion, Virtua Tennis 1 & 2, Mario Tennis and Topspin all have big problems with the mechanics which rear there head when two highly skilled players match up.

Me and and a mate actually "broke" Virtua Tennis 2 by playing it so much. This resulted in an endless rally loop where nobody could win a point. We don't play it anymore.

Did anyone ever enter the code and play the 'hidden' match? On the dark red court against the bald guy who was nigh on impossible to beat?

        Super Tennis is the Daddy

Once again this is a game that is hassle free, full of fun, but ultimately has a great depth to the gameplay. I love the graphics: cute, charming and bright- even the crowds glow with fun!

This is another member of the elite snes collection. A game that mixes style with substance and provided fans with years of heated 2-player pleasure.

And then there was Match Point on the Spectrum ...

Super Tennis has it beat though. Probably.

Super Tennis - one of the all time great console sports games, surely?

Hiro was (and still is) the player of choice for me too. It's funny though, when you complete Circuit mode and the game goes through the stats for all the characters, Hiro's aren't actually very good.

              Go figure.

I have no idea why they haven't added different modes and brought it out on the DS / GBA
The developer of Super Tennis produced a 3D tennis game for the PSX which was ****e...maybe it's best that Super Tennis remains the only game in the series!

Wow, I'm love tennis games, but I've never played Super Tennis ... will have to check it out.

My fave tennis game is the unweildily-named "Smash Court Tennis Pro Tournament 2". The level of timing you need on most shots, and oh the beautiful running shot, make it stand out from the rest for me.

You were supposed to win every tournament to reach him .

I forgot about that amazingly elaborate password system to carry on in the world tour mode (forget what it was called). I would always jot down my code slightly wrong and then couldnt recover it was so annoying!

I remember beating this bald guy though - just about the only way of beating him was to constantly lob him and then when he smashed it back you hit it in the opposite side of the court as it took ages to recover from a smash shot.

That was the only flaw in the system I found.

I used to love the spectacular net rallies you could get in 2p doubles - you or your mate would be at the hit hammering one of the buttons and the CPU did the same and you would have about 50 shots in 5 seconds backwards and forwards over the net!

Never played that - will have to investigate. Should be worth picking up if it's anywhere near as good as Super Tennis!

I bought Super Tennis boxed of ebay for 3quid a while back. Still haven't switched it on yet.....

Anyhow! I always used to think International 3D Tennis on the C64 was pretty good.

Super Tennis was class, The mode7 intro was jawdroping too.

For me the best sports games ever are Sensible Soccer, Decathlete (Saturn). The best 2 player games ever made imo

The original EA hockey, I lost months of my life to that. And Madden '92.

VT2 is really well balanced thats one the best thing about it and I can say that after years of playing not just people I know but in the arcade too. I seriously doubt you broke anything your just not using all the options. Rallies can get long sometimes but theres always a way around things especially if you use the net. VT2 had a great serve & volley game much better than any other tennis game.
