Well superdanx, You can look forward to arguably the best game in history. It's absolutely fantastic from start to finish. If I can reccomend one thing to you, Don't read any FAQS at all (it'll totally spoil the game) and don't read any more on this topic as someone might give away some the games secrets (which are always a million times better when you find them yourself)
Seriously, I wish to god I could play this again for the first time. I never complete games more than once but I completed this 7 times.

Don't hunt me down- because I must say I don't like Symphony!
It has very dull graphics- and a sombre atmosphere. I just don't like the sedate nature of the action- it is too much like a boring version of Metroid for my liking. There are too few exciting moments in this that stir my adrenaline- and the graphics seem a bit anorexic and lifeless( in a bad way)
I would never call it a bad game- but as a CV fan it really disappointed me.

Funny enough I got SOTN in the post on Saturday. I got the US version for $19 off fleabay. Played it a bit - and am loving it, especially the absolutely belting music. I think that this one is going to be my most played PSX title for a while.....
Someone was right though - shocking US boxart. When you consider how good previous Castlevania art has been, anyway......

Something that I always found interesting regarding SOTN.
Eventually my ability to speak returns and I get talking to a small man with big, round sad eyes. He collects only Konami titles published between 1993 and 1999. When he speaks, his Japanese is soft and quiet. He has just purchased his fifth copy of 'Castlevania - Symphony Of The Night'. I ask him what is so special about this version. He tells me that in this particular copy, all the named characters and creatures in the game have been replaced with the names of Konami staff. Obviously never intended for release to the public. That alone makes the copy unique.
Having been fortunate enough to meet and know the writer personally, he has confirmed that there really was an uber rare version as described in the article.
I always though that was neat. Otherwise easily my favourite PS1 game.
Can you believe the fools at Konami USA, in all gross incompetence, did NOT actually want to release it in America? They didn't like the fact that it was 2D, and not very advanced. Thankfully they were proven wrong. Unfortunately I can't remember where I saw the interview stating that.
