Thats good to hear- I think I'll pick-up a GBA copy sometime!

Edge are probably being over-dramatic about the GBA versions short-falls!

The SFC version is better ady. the GBA version has missing pixels from the top and bottom of the screen! what a travesty!!!

Anyone like Yoshi's Story? It's pish easy and faaaar too short but I love it regardless, if for nothing else than Yoshi's singing...

I know. I heard the conversion was done by a bunch of low-life prostitutes, so what can you expect?

I loved this game. Bought it when I first came out and IIRC it was the last game I got for my SNES. But what a way to go. I have so many fond memories of playing this game through with my cousin, each taking it in turns to tackle a level. Aaahhhh sweet childhood memories

I don't like it at all, the gfx were kinda neat.

The mario on Yoshis back nawed my arse off rather than being a fun element.

I should give it another chance maybe.

Yes, I remember getting it for my US N64, but it just wasn't the same as the original. Beautiful visuals for the time and,as you say, loved the singing Yoshis. I can still recall the theme tune, da dadada da........

I absolutely hate it when Baby Mario starts crying- does my head-in!

Yeah, I borrowed it from some guy at school back when it came out and I found the whole baby Mario thing kinda frustrating so I didn't bother playing past the first few levels.

However, I recently got the SFC version and I appreciate the game a whole lot more now. One of those games you can't stop playing because they're so perfect to play.

It was a neat game, for sure. Slightly broken by the fact that it was supposed to be a score attack game in the long run, but the methods of getting those high scores were tedious in the extreme - rote learning of level layouts and repetition do not, on their own, make for an exciting time. There needs to be some freedom offered to the player in how they go about aiming for the top score, and Yoshi's Story just didn't have that.

I can remember super play griping about how nintendo tried to force too may ideas in to the game and how it seemed like they were adding gimmicky things just for the sake of it.
Reviews were much harsher in those days. I thought the game was sheer perfection on every single level.

So what if it was linear, thats just the way some games are. doesn't make them any better or worse.

Yeah.. it's like saying that all on-rails games are bad- when you have the sublime Panzer Dragoon Series as prove they can be amazing in every way!

I don't really like really free non-linear games much anyway. A bit of direction and clear focused routes are much more enjoyable imo- thats why I love Mario games!

Games like Crash Bandicoot go too far with linear design and end-up unsatisfying! Its all about balance at the end of the day.
