Its a bit rubbish, seriously ugly and overrated. Hyper Duel is a lot better IMO.

Thanks for that. Money well spent, then.

Not me though. Shark's appraisal is spot on tbh. Never liked that game at all.

Willing to sell? I'm searching for a TF5 (normal or limited don't care) :P

By the way what do you guys think of Gekirindan.. imo its pretty cool for an old school smhup. I definetely rate it higher than Shienryu and the Strikers..

I've often wondered about this one...features time-travel, does it not?

Its a not very good port of a not very good game.

It will be included on one of those Taito Memories thingies on PS2

TFV is decent enough and features some nice music but i felt it didn't really live up to the fantastic MD iterations.

Tbh i would've been happier without all the 3D bits Technosoft thought they had better put in due to it being on teh Saturn.

Well I'm still looking forward to playing it, I've heard just as many positive reports as negative so hopefully I'll like it. If not I know I'll be able to make my money back on it.

My TF 5 sits on the shelf. Got it when I got into saturn shooters few years ago (Battle Garrega is my fav followed by - Don Pachi and Do Donpachi but there better on PS1 - Strikers 1 and 2, Silouette Mirage Souky and Radientsilvergun) and cant stand it one bit.

Thunder Force 5 is a good shooter but let down by the dodgy 3D Textures. However the Saturn version is over all the better version. The PSX has better textures and maybe a little less slowdown but get this, the Saturn version has more transparencies and better light sourcing !!! Who would have thought it?

Yes, the first level is in space and in level 2 you get warped to WW2 1942.. which means an overload of tank enemies etc. For the rest I don't remember but its indeed time travelling.

I like Gekirindan, it's a solid shooter with some really catchy music. But it's another one of those Saturn shooters with no bloody save option for high scores.

TF5 doesn't do it for me at all, it's all so murky and confusing to look at to the extent where I keep crashing into things. It's hard to tell what's a solid structure and what's just background detail. Pointless deaths ahoy.

I've never played the arcade version of Gekirindan but I sure as hell know that the Saturn version is pathetic ! Even the intro is FMV !!! Released by Virgin and I can see why. The loading is bad with it pausing in the middle of a level to load (this isn't a PSX), the scaling is very rough and jerky. Finally the over all feel of the game is just too cheap and nasty especially when you conceder Layer Section is a million times better and older ! I wonder who actually programmed this ?
