Bomb Jack is probably my favourite 80's game- I just love everything about it!

Taito Platformers are all still fantastic- with New Zealand Story being a highlight!

Capcom made quite a few nice games- but a lot of them are too frustrating. The Ghosts'n'Goblins series is still effective- though very hard. Side Arms is a nice shooter from them!

Konami have the likes of Gradius and Salamander which are worth playing. They also made Yie Ar Kung Fu and Shaolins Road which I enjoy. Contra is a total classic too- named Gryzor in the UK it's still a playable title.

I only got to play Buggy Boy in the early 90's- it's one of my favourite 80's racers!

Rygar is a great little game full of immense action and brilliant music!

I really enjoy playing Outrun and Space Harrier. These games are timeless imo!

There are lots of fantastic really old games. I don't like Pac Man and Space Invaders- in fact I don't like many pre 85 games.

Finding long lost gems in Mame is always a pleasure!

Armor Attack : This game is still amazing in my opinion, and its 25 years old. Freaked me out when i first seen it. When I first played it in the amusements when i was eight, it was the first game i had ever played which was 20p a shot instead of 10p!!!

Its still rocks - still as tough as old boots

Download it on mame, remember to get the background artwork and the samples. It still injects adrenalin into me to this day Absolute classic!

Just looking at the screens there reminded me of that episode of Neighbours where Todd was hooked on Ghosts n' Goblins, so Jim Robinson went to the arcades with him and kept giving him money until he beat it. Not quite sure what Jim was thinking with that one.

Jim was a wise man and probably just wanted the kid to finish the damn thing before the frustrating gameplay finally drove him to suicide!

I am amazed at how much dedication and concentarion is needed to play old games. It's often ' Game Over ' for me after a few mintues with these hard as nails oldies. It really puts in to perspective how easy going and leisurely a lot of modern titles are!

Here's another couple of timeless classics. Shame on you all for not mentioning them

              DEFENDER (Williams, 1980)
The World's first scrolling game. Smart graphics & legendary sounds effects still impress even today.
INTENSE gameplay and hardcore difficulty. Was simply YEARS ahead of it's time.

              ROBOTRON 2084 (Williams, 1982)
Another masterpiece by Eugene Jarvis. Small, stylish graphics and impressive sound effects just like Defender.
Also features a similar "protective" element to the gameplay which makes for another tension-packed classic.

Just spoke to the bloke concerned - said I can have a cab plus a game of my choice FOR FREE!!!!!!!!!!! (I collect though).

There are two SF2 cabs in one arcade, and two in another - he isn't sure what games are on the other one (I suspect one of them may be Double Dragon 2), but I am going to check them out later. He said if I want, he can remove the SF2 CE board and put it inside whichever cabinet I want. I cannot believe this bit of unbelievably good fortune!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !

PLUS the missus is happy for me to have one!!!!!

                Happy, happy days!!!!
What is happening to the other ones, i'm not that far away and would love a cab.

You got me thinking now, we've got a leisure park in my town that is slowly dieing of death, there was an arcade their called Zapp Zone, which has now been closed for over a year, wounder if theres still any arcade units left in their!!

If you can seany try and get 2 cabs, keep one as it is, and convert the other to a MAME cab, then ull be able to play what ever games u like!!, just like me

As I said earlier " Taito Platformers are all still fantastic! "

I prefer New Zealand Story- but it's not really a game of skill and technique like Rainbow Islands- so for depth RI wins!

I will let you know on Tuesday, Vince. If you PM me a contact number, I can ring you and give an update. There are going to be two left - only issue is that they are three button cabs as opposed to six. But hey - a cab is a cab, and they are free!

Seany... have you got any idea what game you're gonna put in the machine?

I would put SFT or SSFT- I just love playing SF games on machines rather than tv's!

There is already a Street Fighter 2 Champion Edition in there, so that will do me for now, and when I do buy any new boards you can bet your ass they will be Capcom games. Gimme the Capcom!
