Yeah, it was bloody great. The "rarely spotted" PS2 version was pretty good too, I loved the music in the dancing stages.

SNES/Arcade NBA Jam was da bomb, etc.

The clay pigeon shooting event in the original Hyper Sports, will, (I suspect) never be improved upon. Staying with Hyper Sports, the horse section, always makes me think of "First Class" and of course, the lovely Debbie Greenwood.

Get Super Sidekicks for your MVS maybe. I liked Soccer Brawl too though.

I seem to remember playing a hell of a lot of WWF Superstars and Wrestlefest after school.

seeing as you've got a neo seany1979 windjammers, soccerbrawl, any super side kicks, and dunk dream are probably the best retro sports titles out there

I hate wrestling games and (before anybody says anything), 'The Main Event' was/is/always will be ****e.

However, those two you've mentioned were bloody good, especially WWF WrestleFest. Thinking about it, Ringside Angels was good fun( In a good fun, but ****e) kind of way.

Actually, I don't mind wrestling games.

Yes. I hate wrestling games, they're absolute **** and I have no time for them, but the amount of 10ps and time we spent on that Wrestlefest royal rumble in the back of the chippy was unreal. Such great days
PERFECT PLEX! Heh. I loved when they had the little pre-interviews at the bottom of the screen and there'd always be an ooooh go up when Legion of Doom appeared coz you knew you were going to get owned in about 20 seconds.

Yep I hate wrestling games too, it's a crap "sport" and it produces crap games.

Musle Bomber would be an exception as it's by Capcom and not based on reality. I've not heard of Wrestlefest, is that the old one with the squat catoony sprites?

Honest, WWF WrestleFest is a peach; the 'Royal Rumble' event is exceptionally good.

The Epyx 'games' series was great.

Cliff diving, barrel jumping (World Games), oh and let's not forget the hot-dogging (ooer) from Winter Games. Come on, these guys were nothing if not original in their choice of events.

Kobe Bryant's NBA Courtside on N64. Absolutely great game, if we weren't on 4player Goldeneye, we were on this. Excellent ball control with the C buttons.

Good call that man. Any game where you can kick the ball so hard it knocks the goalie over the line, gets my vote. Why can't real-life footy be like that? God, I do so hate football.

Also, Super Punch-Out!! is the best "Simon" variant ever, and yes, that is a compliment.

How about Geoff Capes Strongman and Brian Jacks Superstar Challenge? Yeah the eighties maan, they were *great.

*****e. Cash from chaos (okay, maybe that was the seventies), etc. Geoff Capes?? ****ing hell! You've got to hand it to Martech Games Ltd, they had that whole Z-list sporting celeb scene sewn up; back in those days, natch.

even though the series has decended into mush, the original FIFA on the MD, along with '95 are superb and immense fun. the off-the-ball tackles introduced in '95 are hilarious.

i lost count of times me and my brother, to stop the other from scoring, would select an off-screen character then press B+C to push the nearest guy to the ground. plus the crowd fx were genuinely entertaining with various songs, chants and drums.

That was because the entire game was polygonal. Decathlete had less detail (character models asides) and was 2D in the background. Pretty tough stuff for the ST-V/Saturn to handle, especially since Sega had **** all budget for anything by that point. I would love to see a new Decathlete/Winter Heat. They're the shining examples of multi-sport events to me. Only the old Epyx games and maybe Sports Jam come close.

Although I'm a wrestling fan, I too hate all wrestling games bar the N64 Aki stuff and Wrestlefest - which is an amazing charming button masher. The commentary always used to crack me up and reminds me of the old days.
