That was, afaik, the sixth to appear... I'll get one eventually, it's the only thing really left for my Vectrex set that I need. But I wasn't going to overpay imo... loose ones have gone for several hundred, the overlay just added the icing on the price...

Ugh! Not a single White Label DC deserves such a price tag...

Well with the games appearing to be on a glop-tops (where the very small chip is encased in black epoxy) they look like pirates to me..

I've seen a bunch of pre-production and review cartridge innards and they always usually consist of special development PCBs (Sega or otherwise) and use EPROMs.

A glop top chip is a cheap method of production and can be found in nearly all pirate Megadrive games.. think multicarts.. and the games you see on eBay with no manuals and poor box art or spelling mistakes.. often described as being "Japanese" when the writing is Chinese..

Suprisingly, the glop chip "Sample" carts auction is no longer running!

Suprisingly, the glop chip "Sample" carts auction is no longer running!

I asked him for some high-resolution pictures of each side of the cartridge PCBs, and also for the name (and any proof he may have) of his uncle having worked at CVG..

Replied with his uncles name, but no proof, and said he would email me some pictures (which I haven't received yet).

LOL, that article is called "The most expensive game we saw in Akihabara" and in the photo you can just see the top of Oven de Cookie. If only they'd looked at the shelf below that Megadrive game, they could have seen two SuperFamicom games at 498 000 yen and 600 000 yen, and made the article a whole lot more sensational.

"Rare" Megadrive games are easy to find in Tokyo - you just pay a lot for them.

Nakano Galaxy has a copy of Megadrive Tetris on display now - not for sale, sadly.
