How big is retro gamer print run?

As I couldn't find a copy of issue 19 anywhere in Norwich, found Virgin selling the older editions. Are WHSmith stocking your mag in all their stores or just a select few?

Mind you Norwich is the most backwater place on earth, haven't see issue 20 yet either and I do so want to see what the mag is like.

Oops. Looks like I started a bit of willy-waving in this thread!

Seeing as this is the first issue I've had, I don't know if you've already done it, but:
Considering you guys have no qualms promoting the use of flash cartridges for play of PD roms and emulation of 'dead' (but not by our standards!) systems, have you given any thought to having a mini-series of articles explaining step-by-step how to territory/speed/RGB mod retro consoles i.e. Megadrive, SNES, PC Engine, Master System, building an RGB lead for the Spectrum, doing the N64 RGB mod, that sort of thing, with pictures to illustrate the steps?

You missed it... I believe a previous issue (during Live's tenure) had a wodge of modding information in it.

              Picked this up today.

Have only had a quick flick through, but I 'm liking it more than last months.

Can't wait to read the NGPC article. Oh, and I love the spread on Elevator Action Returns. More stuff like this please.

As Mayhem explained, the last issue under Live had a big feature on import/speed/RGB mods (well, there wasn't that much RGB modding, but hey), with detailed guides included on the disc, which were donated by various online chaps.

Of course Mayhem would remember this, he aided with its completion.

Not that I can see why anyone would have qualms about modding, regardless of their stand on emulation. Hardware modding simply improves the performance of legally bought machines and games.

Wil - Yeah, I got my copy at the weekend. Such is the quality of the magazine I've decided to stop buying EDGE (the only mag I buy) and buy RG instead. I can't justify spending a tenner a month on magazines, so one had to go. And RG gives me much more joy than EDGE does.

                          Oo-er.

And issue #18 is readily available still from Imagine... aside from the rights to the mag, they also picked up any leftover printed copies to sell on.

Well finally managed to track down a copy of issue 20.

Great read looks 100 times better than the old retro gamer and it's put together a lot better.

Still a little pricey, but I guess you have to expect to pay a little bit more for a specialist magazine.

Well done all round good read, one or two problems here an there, but I have to say the magazine look along better than all the others currently on the market.

Just a little bit more Saturn, Snes, Gameboy and Amiga coverage please.

Great bit on Flashback, nice to see you didn't mention about the heavy piracy of the game on the Amiga version.

                              Couple of points

I noticed you didn't mention about Another World sequel, it was only released in the US under the name Out of This World 2 - Heart of the Alien for the Mega CD. Any reason for not mentioning it?

If I really want to nit pick I could say you didn't include SNES & Gameboy as formats for Killer Instinct, but I'm not that sad and the Arcade version was the best by miles. Shame about the Killer Instinct series Killer Instinct 1 made it Killer Instinct 2 killed it. "Point to Rare don't remove some of the more popular characters and features of your game"

Every thing else seems to have already been mentioned.

Right I've got plenty of reading to do tonight.

Any chance of reviewing more retro games! It would be interesting to see which have or haven't stood the test of time.

Pat on the back chaps, have a biscuit on me.

SNES Killer Instinct was really ****ing good though, considering. A better conversion than SF2WW was anyway.

Is there any chance you lot (do you have a website?) can list all the stuff that's already been covered/remembered, so that we can make suggestions as to what to do next?

Have you done Rise of the Robots yet? There should be at least one game per issue that's remembered for being a bit crap, instead of the 100% retro love-in it is now (not that that's a problem really!)
