Ditto, and it's amazing that I'd ever bother with something so hard and frustrating at times. It's a wonder the stuff we tolerate when we're young and naive isn't it?

The SNES had some of the best platformers ever.

I still don't get whats so amazing about Super Mario World though, I liked it but Id put it down the list considering some of the other games around.

CV4 was one of the best CV's ever with one of the finest soundtracks in any game and made unique whip use of the whip.

DKC was another outstanding game. I really liked all the different animals you could ride and the variety of the levels. It kept changing up the gameplay as you progressed adding new things here and there. Best graphics and 2nd best soundtrack on the system.

Legend Of The Mystical Ninja would be my overall favourite for it's excellent co-op mode, level design, storyline and minigames. I never got to play the followup Goemon games, what were they like?

The other games in the goemon series are excellent (but im a huge goemon fan so i would say that)

Goemon 2 is probably the most action based & has some amazing levels (i love the gourmet castle level). Probably my fave of the whole series.

Goemon 3 is more rpg based & feels a bit like zelda in places. A very big game too.

Goemon 4 has an equal mix of both & its set in space for a nice bizarre twist.

All of them are worth tracking down as they are all chocked full of crazy madness & fun minigames.

Id do yourself a favour & get the japanese version of goemon 1 as well because the western hack of it is total ****. Its censored to hell & back.

I never even knew SNES Goemon had sequels untill a few months ago, I can't believe I missed out on them. No internet and alot less info back then. These may turn up on The Wii virtual console if it has 3rd party support.

Did those followup games also have co-op?

The obvious choices have already been mentioned, so I'll choose the mighty Hagane - one of the great SNES/SFC Platformers, without question.

            Shinobi meets Contra - brilliant.

Oh Yeah Super Metroid (best Adv game I ever played) , Contra III, Mystical Ninja was ace . Might be the only one but though Super Ghost N Ghouls was pants and not a patch onthe Mega Drive version (even liked the music more)

Funnily enough, I agree with you on that one, Team Andromeda. You & me agreeing about MD/SNES-related issues - fancy that!!

MD Ghouls 'N' Ghosts beats the farcical SNES version hands down.

Why do you think the Snes game is farcical? I've never played the MD game so have no comparison to make, just interested

DKC 1 + 2 have some of the best soundtracks to this day. What has Dave Wise done recently?

It has to be said - whenever a Rareware game is in the works I look forward to the soundtrack the most.

So true Dave. The underwater music on the original DKC is absolutely perfect. In fact DKC has my second favourite videogame soundtrack ever, not far behind Tempest 2000.

This is obviously a joke right?

The md version is awful, iv'e just played it an hour ago. Its a shoddy attempt at an arcade port that unlike its template doesnt offer the same challenging level of difficulty.

It pales, pales in comparison to the gravity defying, double jumping snes version in every aspect.

I never finished Plok and seem to remember it was pretty rock hard.

Was it hard or was I crap?

I'm sorry, but the SNES version takes the piss in every conceivable way, with its dodgy control, outrageous difficulty and unnecessary slowed-down pace (Sir Arthur moves and jumps as if he wading in Quicksand, ffs!!). The MD version, while not a patch on the coin-op/SuperGrafx version, is a fairly reasonable port of the coin-op, surely?

I appreciate both versions. The snes version looks and sounds amazing, the MD version looks and sounds good too.

I like the double-jump in the snes version. It's a nice feature imo.

The snes/ntsc edition was simply mind-blowing back in the day. It still looks great, with it's crisp colourful visuals. Every level looks excellent, and there is so much to enjoy!

The MD version does move better. It plays faster, and feels silkier, and the graphics are very impressive and detailed.

The snes versions bad-point is the difficulty. There may be some that find it pretty simple, but 90% of people seem to think it's a ' very tough ' game, and this difficulty spoils things quite a bit.

I can fully understand why some people much prefer the MD version, but to say the snes version is poor etc... is being way too harsh!

Let's accept both are good games, and enjoy them!

                                No its not.
The Snes version was poor the scroling and god awful slodwown got inthe way as did the difficulty level. It just wasn't fun at the end of the Day (though I did love the 2nd and 3 rd levels).

The MD version onthe other hand was a joy with super smooth scrolling and some of the best music I've ever heard. I remember my mum moaning at paying ?60 for Super Ghost N Ghouls the moment it came out on USA Import. After loving the MD version , I said of coruse so and just hurry up and hand the money over , boy was I in for a letdown.
Castlevannia might have been super onthe Snes (and way better than the MD version) Ghost N Ghouls was anything but
