I'm another one whose most personally-valued stuff isn't rare:

*Battle Garegga (Saturn port - hell, I love most of the Saturn shmups I own, especially the Salamander and Parodius ports.)
    * My wee Gradius collection (I've got every release in various forms - just missing a couple of PCBs.)
    *X-Multiply (PSOne - Arcade Gears)
*Minty copies of each regional version of Super Metroid, Castlevania IV, ALttP and Gunstar Heroes.

I could quite easily part with some of the stuff that's genuinely hard to find...

That's a bit of a bargain. Where'd you come across it?

                              Cheers wheelaa :-)

I got this book about 4 months ago: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hacking-Vide...dp/0764578065/

And after about 1 month of thinking about it, I got the bits I needed together. The most expensive were the mini snes and the PS1 screen (had to import both). I followed the book closely, except for the battery compartment (ended up making my own from Maplin parts) + the box, which I made entirelt out of plasticard - really, really good for box making as it's strong, but flexible + easy to cut. I had to import the pad-per-hole veroboard for the controls too (from small bear electronics in the US) as the stuff doesn't exist in Europe as far as I can tell.

I spent 2 hours every other Saturday for 3 months on it.. maybe 20 hours in total. But I'd spend a lot of time thinking about the next steps / reading the book etc.

It was a good project. I always have something like this on the go (things like mame cabs etc) or I get very bored.

Apart from nearly loosing a finger to a surgical cutting knife, it was a success :-P

Omgz!! How much, lets make a deal

Whats that blurred out label on the top at the back right hand corner?

Did you dump the BIOS (I presume thats what the EPROM is?) Is there any difference in it to the released BIOS' ?

Where did you find something like that.. or is it a secret?

Give some more details.. come on spill the beans, how long does this baby run for, whats her power source.. what screen did you use.. what challenges and obstacles did you overcome.. best places to obtain some of the materials e.g. I cant find aluminium strips for the life of me!

                                Spill the beans!

Ohh that pad per hole thing, its called matrix board isnt it? I bought some over here in UK but it came and there was no bloody copper pads on it

Where do you get plasticard from? Is that the same as engraving plastic?
