I'm mostly into retrogames just because I can't be arsed with complex controls and storylines on the new systems. I just don't have time. My only modern system is a DS, and I'm constantly playing Streets of Rage 2 and my Megadrive at the moment.

Even though I own all of the new consoles, I only have 1 game in total for them. Been concentrating on retro arcade stuff recently.

The 90s was definitely a powerful and uplifting time for videogames. The technology was way better than the 80s stuff- and enabled more creative freedom.

All the classic games in the arcade and at home, had a vibrancy and energy rarely seen these days.

The amount of creativity seen in many old shooters, platformers, and action titles is pretty staggering. It puts a lot of modern games to shame. I rarely find a title which stirs any passion within me these days. If I want to feel enthused, it's always my favourite retro titles that make me smile.

The great dance tunes found in many games like Ridge Racer, and the influence the music had on videogames, made even the sound side of things more fun.

          I miss the 90s.

Well during 2k3 I actually only owned a Saturn, that was because I ditched my Xbox and PS. But after some time I also had the urge to play the 'new' stuff, and i'm actually glad I did. Gears of War for example was just insanely fun.

Now I own a Saturn, PS1, Neogeo AES and 360. On the Ps1 I only got about 5 games left, on the saturn about 30 ish. Only the truly good stuff.

Anything that's good but I try to keep up with current stuff, and time is limited. WHich means that my retro time is even more limited.

But going to be diving into Majora's Mask as my next big quest game, so trying to get in a classic retro game that I missed in every so often.

Retro gaming is something that I consider to be essential for 2D games and the great games from the old Sega.

I have to admit that i am becomming more of a retro gamer as time goes by, i find that many of today's games have no soul and remain bland gameplay experiences with pretty graphics.

i find myself constantly turning to the MD/SNES for my enjoyment these days and ive recently started an SFC collection and ive decided to sell my 360 after being so disappointed with the games of today.

For me, the 16-bit era was when games were still real games (gameplay and fun was foremost in any game) before the gaming industry started to mirror the movie industry...

I'd say i'm half and half. My brothers owned a Megadrive and SNES when I was young and i've got fond memories of earthworm jim, mario world, streets of rage stuff like that, but it was really when I got my first console with the N64 that I really got into games. I was completely obsessed and carried on buying titles for it till the end of its life, when I moved to the gamecube. So i've got nice minty copies of mario party 3 (last game I believe?), paper mario, majoras mask etc. Sadly there all PAL...

Anyway at some point, a mate gave me a gameboy emulator, with the pokemon rom and that got me into emulation. Started downloading all the old SNES RPG's and loved them, and eventually got myself a chipped PS1, and started importing all the PS1 RPG's.

Got a saturn recently, and i'm enjoying it a lot, getting more into arcade games (I more or less missed the whole arcade generation so there new to me!). MAME has also been good here!

Never tried much before the NES or Master System era, thats about as far back as I go.

But I still play a lot of modern games, Gamecube has kept me almost as busy as my N64 did and the PS2 and XBOX have had some great titles as well. Looking forward to getting my hands on the Wii.

Definitely not retro only, but a big retro fan.

I'm pretty much retro only. I'll probably make an exception for the Wii and Zelda:TP. I think it comes down to time and cost factors more than anything. Most of the pre 32-bit games are quite pick up and play, so if you only half half an hour or so per evening to spare they're ideal.

In addition to this when you can get 20 odd games on one compilation it's quite attractive.

I did buy an NGC, but only played Zelda: WW, Mario Kart DD, Mario Sunshine and F Zero GX. None of which I liked as much as their SNES equivalents...

I did love the void levels on SMS though

Yeah, they we're innocent days for me though. Enjoying middle school etc with mates. Days before i discovered the dreaded internet .

Yeah! ridge racer man. I put the game in my pc and put all the tunes on it. My favourite has to be the Sonic R soundtrack, Richard Jaques done a great job on that.

Anagrama, ooh i don't know about that. Looks temping but i'll have to pass. I bought too many CD's just recently. I got the 'Hackers' Soundtrack thats awesome soundtrack. Also one of Scooters Early albums haha.

As far as games magazines go, I'm definitely "Retro only" as games magazines were so much better back in the day.

Games magazines these days depress me. They reflect the tone of the industry; i.e bland and soulless.

I only buy Edge because I have some stupid obsession with collecting it. Probably because I really liked it once.

I buy Retro Gamer, which is mostly good, but has issues which infuriate me, but I won't moan because it is decent enough to buy.

RG is the only magazine I really get any enjoyment from.

Speaking of Edge, I was browsing through the latest Edge File magazine special the other day and it reminded me just how much better it was back in the day.

Edge nowadays isn't as good and you should stop buying Edge if it depresses you, man.
