What are your top5 retro games, based on time played???

    My Top5

    1. Super Mario Kart
    (SNES)

    2. Street Fighter 2 Turbo
    (SNES)

    3. F-Zero
    (SNES)

    4. Wave Race
    (N64)

I dug deep, and really thought about the games I've played the most in my life. There are many games that crossed my mind, but the Top5 above are the games I've truely spent the most time with.

I've owned every console/computer, played loads of arcade games etc....

I didn't select my games on any other basis than *time played* ... The fact that most of them are multiplayer means that singleplayer titles didn't really stand a chance.

It's made me realise even more, how much Nintendo machines have dominated my games playing life; even though I've always had other options.

I hope people forsake any nostalgic sentiment or brand loyalty, and simply vote for games they've genuinly played the most.

I guess it is the same as any top 5 really - the games I liked the most I play the most, hence:

SMW, SMK, Zelda III, Secret of Mana, SFII.

          All SNES of course!

            1. Super Mario Bros - I have this on the VC now and still play it nearly every day.
            2. Doom - I played this WAY too much back in the day.
            3. GoldenEye - I played this solid pretty much solid, especially multiplayer for about three years after release.
            4. Tie Fighter CD - This is another game I really kicked the arse out of when I was a teenager with owt better to do. I even got into creating my own missions with various editor tools. I wish the modern Star Wars games had this much depth
            5. Super Castlevania IV - I'm guessing here but this is a game I've come back to time and time again so I must have notched up some hours with it.

here are my most probable top 5

                1. Goldeneye - N64
Every weekend when we were on patrol in the Irish Sea it would be the Navy versus the Marines and i was the Ships Goldeneye God, finished it on 007 agent level and just lovel the level design and smashing Marines all over the place

                2. Super Metroid - SNES/SFC
Played it when it was first released and couldnt finish it, but with buying SNES/SFC versions and with the help of PC Emulators i've been back to this many many times and completed it from scratch so many times

                3. Final Fantasy 7 - PSone
The wife hated this game as i gave it far too much attention. Finished it in around 35 hours originally and then it took me a further 40 hours to get myself ready and defeat the 3 new monsters that appeared when you beat Sephiroth, this was mainly due to chocobo racing/breading and trying to evolve specific materias (Mime)

                4. Super Mario 64 - N64
Again had this game at various times through my life and always felt the need to achieve the 120 stars, and i couldnt put it down until i had all the stars

                5. Command and Conquer: Tiberium Sun PC
This is the definitive Command and Conquer for me and the only one i like in the entire series, love skirmishes and set myself goals of trying to kill over 2000 troops in any one battle, the game itself is class and much better than anything before and after it especially the red alert games - they suck

Well, hard to say for sure, but I would make a rough guess as follows:

                  1. Elite (BBC Micro)
                  2. Saturn Bomberman
                  3. Sonic 2
                  4. Final Fantasy 7
                  5. Buck Rogers: Countdown to Doomsday

No. 5 is a tough one, and I'm not really sure what I would have played most after those first four. I did also spend a lot of time playing 2-player games of NHLPA Hockey 93

I have to mention that playing them so much, doesn't mean that I had the most fun with 'em.

Anyway, I can't say for sure, but this could be a very close approximation:

                      1) Super Mario Kart
-I still play Time Trial from time to time
                      2) Goldeneye 64
                      -played it regularly for years
                      3) Perfect Dark
-singleplayer wasn't as good imo, but multiplayer was ace
                      4) Final Fantasy VII
                      -finished it three times
                      5) Sim City
                      -nearly endless replayability

Quake Series (PC) - I wasted an inordinate amount of time on these during my twenties, but loved every second. STILL the best FPS games by far.

Settlers (Amiga) - A friend an I used to play this every single day from after school until whatever time I finally managed to drag myself home. I still love the game.

EA Hockey (Megadrive) - Another after-school favourite, I played at least 4 hours of this every night for months on end.

The Secret Of Monkey Island (Amiga, PC) - I've replayed this game more times than I care to think about, and I still love it to bits, I'll never get tired of it. The best atmosphere in any game ever for my money.

Streetfighter II (Arcade, SNES) - My first import on SNES, and well worth the ?60-70 I paid for it. With friends around we frequently had 'Best of 99 games' matches.
