Donpachi. Dodon for me was the first manic shooter and I pefer the less mental style. I play em for 1credit only so can get to last level on Donpachi. Saying that though I prefer Ddondajou over Dodon anyway I find it the weakest of the 3 (Donpachi my fav).

Battle G still eats em up though

Well I've managed to source a PS1 copy of Donpachi from Belmondo

So will let you all know how I find it in a few days time

I'n the meantime I went back to DoJ last night & rekindled my love affair with it to get myslef ready for the arrival of it's Grandad

thanks for the input guys it's been a good read.

Oh & BTW I'll be adding Battle G & hopefully Batrider & Batsugun to my collection soon as well

          Thanks again

Batsugun is excellent. If you like Truxton you feel right at home with Batsugun.

Just seen this. I have an old GP2X (F100 i think...). Would they both be playable on that, or is the F200 more powerful?

I believe the PSP can play both in finalburn alpha now too.

Out of the 3, I like the look and feel of dodonpachi the most, but the bee system and intensity in DOJ is just .. amazing. The bee system is so much better, and doesn't involve you searching for every single bee just for a paltry score bonus.

I have the Saturn version and arcade PCB of DoDonPachi. For some reason I can't quite put my finger on, the Saturn version doesn't feel quite 'right' compared to the arcade one. I don't think it's quite as smooth during play, which possibly makes a difference in the 'feel' of the chaining mechanic, but it's very minimal and I'm probably just being ultra picky. A lot of people do say the the PSOne version is superior though. Either way, it's a brilliant game, and one of my most played shmups of all time. I've prolly spent a lot more time on it than Radiant Silvergun...

DOJ freaking rocks, but Ibara trounces it for me. I prefer Gunbird and the first 2 Strikers games to Do and Don also. My current fave is Giga Wing Generations mind.

I'm really not a big psyiko fan, apart from maybe Aero Fighters 2 which is kinda developed by them.

Ibara port on PS2 is terrible though compared to arcade Ive seriously started thinking last couple of days of slowly saving up over a yr or so (ie cutting out a couple of games a month) and going down a pcb and either cab or gun route for Ibara now prices have dropped for it. Im just praying DDPDJBL and Ketsui do well and they decide to get Ibara as well.

I seriously doubt you are hardcore enough to worry about the differences in the Ibara port on PS2 against the JAMMA version. If you were I'd imagine you'd already have the PCB.

I don't have the PCB, but then I don't really rate it. I do have donpachi, dodonpachi, espgaluda and DOJ pcb's though. And yeah, the port is pretty crappy, but I heard theres a patch to sort out the video at least.
