^ISS on PS2 is better than them all! And I *mean* ISS, not Pro Evo. Yours for about 40p from CEX.

Fifa 95 is one of the best footie games of all time and has aged alot better than some other footy games released around the same time. Unfortunately EA didnt make another great footy game after that until Fifa 09 14yrs later. I was also a huge Sensi fan myself and me and my mate spent hours on it making our own team and putting all our mates in the game.

I couldn't disagree more. Don't get me wrong last week I would have. But after playing a load of 16bit football games this past week Fifa is just magnificent. The sheer variety of play and goals you can score is huge for a title of its age!

        Go on, start a thread!

Jazz Funk I have to partly agree, ISS is actually a brilliant football game on PS2. It also had 360 degree dribbling!

More retro action for me. On the beat 'em up front I have been playing Final Fight and King of the Dragons. Both still play great, but Final Fight is far tougher. I have been playing that game for years and I'm still crap at it!

Continuing with the Capcom theme I played through the arcade version of Bionic Commando for the first time, and I don't think it's as good as the C64 version. Also played through Mercs again (must have finished that game over 20 times). Still a great game.

Lastly, quick spins for Sonic 2 (the best Sonic title) and Golden Axe 1&2, with the first being a much better game than the second, with the latter feeling like too much of an inferior retread.

I have to say I can't stand football and don't enjoy watching yet even I was hooked on Sensi as a kid including World of where I'd spend weeks at a time playing through the management sim side mixed in with the odd player coach match. Something about that as a game that I just can't put my finger on but it's pure gaming gold through and through.

Been playing a bit of Jet Set Radio Future, not quite retro but it is nearly 8yrs old now. Still an amazing game in all departments, looks fantastic as well upscaled on the 360.

Also Golvellius on the iphone, still a nice little action RPG after all these years, wouldn't mind completing this one again but will probably get hold of the MS version at some point as i'm struggling with the iphone controls a bit.

Just started playing an X68000 game called Gardis Light, it's similar to games like Rygar and Valis except it's 2 player with the CPU taking control of the second player, I'd assume you can play it with a mate also but haven't had chance to try that yet.

It's not bad, although there are some irritating enemies that take a ton of hits, your attacks are a bit limited as well. Has some nice ideas though, theres a stretch of water that you can't cross while fighting the first boss, once it's dead it's corpse starts floating down river, you then wait for it to get to the point you couldn't cross and hop on, I thought it was pretty original anyway. Enjoying it so far but it's quite tough as you only get 3 credits.

I downloaded Monkey Island on Xbla when it was cheap over the festive period. I have never played a Monkey Island game before but thought I'd look into it, given how everyone talks fondly of them.

I've had a couple of small shots, but I'm really struggling to enjoy it. The "wacky" humour is really awful and I can't skip the talking (in remake and amiga form). So far it just feels like I click on a bit, walk to it, then the devoloper forces their poor script onto me.

                Does it get any better?

Oh thank God! It's not only me! Jesus, I can't stand the supposed golden age of Lucasarts - as far as I'm concerned they were just foisted onto us because developers were afraid to do anything serious and tried to convince us non-stop wiseass throwaway gags without any context were the way to go. Yeah... no, not so much. It's one reason why I hate point and clickers so much - ninety-nine point nine percent of the time the writing and by association the humour are bloody awful (as it is in so many videogames that try to be funny). They were crap back then and they're crap now.

But I'm sure any number of people will be happy to jump in and tell me how wrong I am.

I have, mmm, about a dozen mahjong games in the backlog and am working through the Super Real series in reverse order. I recently found a site that actually describes the Japanese scoring system in detail, so I've figured out the weird little quirks that I've never understood in the past.

Going from PVI to PV was a real shocker; the difficulty level seemed to spike and the default "loss" behavior changed from "you lose points" to "you lose points, and your opponent puts something back on"

Oh, and it has Akira, who I really dislike after playing through the Neo Geo Pocket version.

I think PV was more of a direct port of the arcade, designed to suck Y100 coins from you at the best possible rate, while PVI was more of a home-system-friendly port.

On to Graffiti, now, which has PII, PIII, and PIV all in one convenient package.

I had the original WE5 (not FE) back in the day and I remember the coin that you flip at the start of the game had 'ISS' written on it. I guess at the time Konami intended to release it as an ISS game in the West.
