Dominic's filthy comments were part of it's appeal. I don't think it was bad for kids at all. Nothing worse than you would hear at school!

So true, I went to a inner London Comprehensive School at the time and Dominiks silly, light hearted knob jokes were nothing compared to the average talk you heard in the play ground on break.

maybe my mind was just polluted with crass humour as my absolute fave program at the time was Bottom and I would regularly buy the Viz Comic.

Sorry, but I don't see any parallel between kids being kids and a middle-aged man telling dick jokes to kids. One is perfectly normal, the other is creepy and in bad taste/inappropriate, imo.

Anyway, all I'm really trying to say is that I personally don't enjoy watching GM anymore , which is a shame because I used to love it.

Yeah man, weren't we all! Bottom was a cracking show.

Ha! Viz...I got busted reading that as a kid once and had to watch it burn as my parents deemed it too debauched for my fragile innocence, lol.

@HC_O - leave my Golden Joystick out of it

(yeah, that shot is of the one I own... and if you missed the lookback at the series then there's this write-up on this site)
Lie with passion and be forever damned...

To be honest with you , I thought it was Dom and Kurt , who was the biggest pricks . Dave did a lot of good for that show, and always made sure to explain games as best he good , he was aways's the best co- commentator imo (him and Tim Boone and ) All we got from Dom an Kurt was piss poor jokes about Women- they're not all as nice as Zoe Ball , and insult to the guests , Acting like a pair of childish school kids imo

I'm sorry , Gamesmaster went to Dom head , after his so called grand Comeback, He killed the family friendlily good nature of the show
It went to a show that the whole family could sit down and watch , to a show that wouldn't look out of place for the James Whale slot .

Really sad to see the Show go down hill so much

Dave "The Games Animal" Perry is one of the biggest pricks to have walked this planet. A grade "A" tool.

I agree on the Dave Perry is a prick comments. Never liked the guy at all. Dom' Diamond was a tool for the nob gags but that's what made the show what it was. Personally I hated the challenges. Too long spent on one game. I wanted to see more games, not some guys or girls play a game that I'd played ages ago on import. The worst Game Masters for me were with that Dexter Fletcher guy. man, he was so annoying.

Anyway, overall the show was crap in the fact that it was a games show without many games but great in that it was entertaining and featured games. For me the best UK TV show would probably be that one which Violate Berlin did on Bravo.

                        I sort of disagree mate.

1st off , the show never started out with the smut gags , The 1st 2 series , was a really family friendly show , it was only after Dom's grand comeback , that its started to go down that route .

With Dom thinking I'm Mr GamesMaster , and looking for all the world like Him and Kurt , just could believe their luck and were in fact getting paid , for all the silly jokes , and helping shaping the show .
The 1st series of GamesWorld was by far the best gaming show ever made , though again it started to go down the silly route , with Barry's Joypad .

I really miss .TV , that was a quite brilliant gaming/computer station, that I can't believe SKY canned . Possibly the biggest disgrace though ... is despite the billions we pay for it , despite its not meant to be about ratings, but for the British public .
Is the BBC treatment of the Computer and Videogame Industry , nothing short of pathetic , its 1 go at a Videogame shows, was the worst of the lot , Total Reality , was so bad, it could put you off TV ,and Videogames for Life

I was in the GamesWorld Audience in 1994. It was quite boring, but.. at least Bob Mills took the piss out of my brother because he was wearing a bandana.

I agree with you about SKY. I hate the company. They charge too much - and deliver nothing special. I thought Violet Berlin's show was OK. I love her because she said SuperMarioBros2 is her favourite game of all time

For me, Gamesmaster is the best gaming show ever made. It was fun and not really geeky. They had celebs on it - and Patrick Moore gave things a surreal feel.

I didn't like Bad Influence. It was reasonable at times, but... when I was a kid, I didn't like being treated like a kid. I knew more than Andy Crane did about gaming; although.. at least he tried his best. Violet was enthusiastic, but.. overall I didn't get excited about the show.

It would be nice if they made a 1-hour show every week covering all aspects of gaming. Presented by people who are geeky, but also eloquent with good social skills.

it seems opinions are really devided on these programs,
very much a love or hate thing it appears..

I loved Games Master as the programs demograph was clearly targeting adolescent kids and it did a very good job at it with its low brow school boy humour, when it was aired I was at the exact right age for it to really hit home.
Although I did like Bad Influence for me at the time it was aimed at a slightly younger age group and it had a bit of a goody goody Blue Peter slant to it as opposed to GM.

Bad Influence was very much a Childrens TV show and nothing flashy. Games Master was on in the evening and delivered a much more impressive experience. I don't think any gamer, who watched both, would have preferred BI. GM was in a higher league. In fact.. it was brilliant - and looking back it's pretty amazing to think how good it was.

Dominik Diamond totally failed with his last games show[When Games Attack] ... That was sad to see.

Bar having Kids reviewing games (which it should have been both kids and a expert opinion . BI was a much better show imo , that also covered a wider range of consoles and computers , including Amiga and Atari ST. It still remains my fav gaming show, after the 1st series of GamesWorld

I liked the 1st couple of series of GamesMaster , buy only watched it inthe end of to see games running . I got bored of the childish insults , the boob gags , and even with sending Dom to Japan , inside SEGA ECT, all we got was jokes and gag's. When I would have much rather seen a proper grown up Interview and interview

I quite enjoyed Thumb Bandits too
