I always said N.E.S., Super Nintendo or S.N.E.S., but I'm one of those Americans... Nintendo 64 was usually "N64" or "64".

SNES and SNESS sound the same when I say them, but that's maybe an accent thing (I often wind up my girlfriends family with sauce / source which sound completely different when I say it, but near identical from them...
Anyways, nowadays to avoid confusion for me it's:
Original Nintendo or NES (often followed by, as in the original Nintendo console)
SNES
Megadrive
GBA
N64
DC (as in "Dee See" for - Dreamcast, and erm, David Coulthard...)
Unless I'm going into specifics when i'd use the proper name for them.
I should add that I often refer to the Famicom / Super Famicom as the JAP NES / JAP SNES if around people that don't have a clue.
I loved it when kids called it the Super SNES at school, door open, mickey taken.
