Agree with that. I always had a soft spot for SvC, from when I first played it on the cab they had in the bottom of Game Focus yonks ago. I like the different look to the Capcom charas and the combo potential made it quite fun IMO (er, overlooking the broken bits of the gameplay). Some absolutely shockingly poo backgrounds too, that's true. It has got Hugo in it though, so it can't be all bad.

tried kof XII again...feels really underdone while the graphics are pretty good (though not hires) gameplay and characters felt a real step back and i found that counter systems fairly useless

I thought SvC was pretty decent too, although Match of the Millenium on the NGPC was miles better. Speaking of the NGPC, Card Fighters' Clash is probably one of my favourite and most played titles ever. Shame they managed to balls up the DS sequel.

KOF wise, '96 '98 and 2002 stand out as my picks, and I am quite interested in picking up XIII when it lands. Love the box art for '98 too:

SvC Chaos is alright, it's just a shame they couldn't make a sequel to improve it.
I think i read somewhere it was rushed out due to the contract with Capcom coming to an end, not sure how true this is however.

KOF02UM is currently my favourite KOF, they really improved it over the original 02 which was already a really solid game. Loads of characters (every character/boss from 99-01, plus Geese and Nightmare Geese), new moves and a couple of improvements to the system.

I think the only ones i don't like too much are 00,01, 03, XI. Just couldn't get along with the striker and tag systems.

Neowave as well is a bit of a weird one, doesn't seem like there was any point to it.

After having another look at it on MAME I decided to get a copy of Mark of the Wolves (alcohol also played a part). Although I only managed to have a quick go before work I don't think I've ever been more wrong about a game. It seems like such a solid, high quality game. Can't wait to give it a proper go.

I love booze fuelled change of hearts!

My MOTW had died today. Gutted.

What did you do to it? I have never had a cart die on me.

                  died? eh?

                  what does it do?

Well, I had a hellish time getting it loaded up last night. When I finally did it looked fine and that's when I took the pics of the cab. I sat down to play it, first fight, first round was fine. After that all the screen went corrupt with only the main sprites still intact. Today I tried to play it again, no matter how many times I clean it or re-insert it in to the 1 slot I get nothing. The only time something did come up on the screen it said Z80 error.

All the other carts work fine I take it? you could try clearing the backup RAM on the motherboard I guess, turn it on with no cart in, and press start a couple of times until it asks you to press ABC to clear the saved settings. Do that and then turn off/put cart in and see how it goes. Or if you want I can test it for you :awe:

Yeah, all the other carts are running fine mate. I'll give what you just said a bash.

Well you could take a look inside I guess and see if there are any dry solder joints I suppose, and give it another firm clean with a cotton bud, pencil eraser and some alcohol or surgical spirits. I doubt its just died if it worked before, I know the previous owner before garrz had it for almost 9yrs or so and it was fine.

Ok, did what you said. As has been the same all day, it just comes up with the screen with all the squares on, then on the fourth attempt I got this again:

Tried another cart right after and it loaded first time.

Bizarre. having a read over at the ng.com tech section, about 20 threads on it.

What model is the motherboard? vertical loading or horizontal one slot?
