It's maybe my memory mate, but DC's were never pure white were they? I kind of remember them more being an off white, and this stuff comes up pretty pure. If you decide to do a DC, with all it's nooks and crannies, you'll have to really take your time over it. I'm giving everything four coats, and by the time I finish the marquee tomorrow I think i'll need to order more dye before taking on the control panel. It's all a bit of an effort, but it's going to be worth it to see the cab looking so fresh.

I just coated some bits in Retr0bright today (it's just like wallpaper paste). I would have thought that, overall, this Retr0bright was less hassle because you are restoring the original colour, rather than re-dying it.

I'm still unsure if it's safe to put the stuff on the coloured branding bits.

I wouldn't imagine there was any difference in the effort required to do either to be honest mate. What made the dye the choice for me, was not having to arse about buying this and that to make up a formula, then sitting it under a UV light for however long. The bezel took me an hour to do all in, and that was it dry and ready to refit. Definitely want to see the results of what you're doing though.

Wow, that bezel came up a treat! I wonder if they sell this stuff in Japan? It would be fantastic for case mods over paint. Pain tends to rub off on controllers.

Cheers Phil. Going to disappear early from here today, and go home to do the marquee. So there will be a photo update later tonight.

Ok, just finished refitting the marquee after working on it this afternoon. Not sure these pics are really doing it justice, it's looking great. Not sure I have enough left for the control panel, so definitely leaving that until next week. After I get that done too, i'll make sure the pics I post up give an accurate image.

Pics previous to today for comparison:

Thats awesome for many reasons, looks almost new. Takes some serious balls to dare take a paint can to something like that but totally paid off, the difference is striking.

They are white, maybe not a brilliant white though. One side has definately yellowed more than the other and the modem is even worse, being a creamy yellow, so it needs some attention.

I have taken one apart before so it's not too big a job. I will have some trouble with the Sega and Windows CE logos on the front as they are grey. I may have to completely cover them in the colour as they are small and intricate, possibly too small to mask or stencil.

The cab looks great, it's a great advert for the stuff.

I'm not 100% on this, but I *think* Retr0bright can be applied over logos. It can be bought premixed, apparently.

On the subject of which my first application seems to have made 0 difference. They say it sometimes needs two treatments.

Did you have it under a UV light after you coated it? I heard that was what you were supposed to do. (Unless you get a nice sunny day and whack it outside)

Got asked for a close up pic of the finish today, but my camera isn't really up to doing anything special, so this was as good as I could get.

                                Very nice.

I had it on a dull day and then on a sunny day the day after. Perhaps it needs to be sunny right after application.
