Mercs is the better game by far with the Mega Drive version being the best as long as you don't mind playing solo. After that I'd go with the Saturn version.

Yes I liked the MD version more than either the Saturn/Arcade versions

The next BOTP will be Mercs. All video is now shot except for the ST version. I've got 3 images and they all crash after the title screen on two different ST emulators so I need to sort that out first. Good job I started videoing this one early.

Nice BOTP, I got Capcom Generation 4 on the Saturn a while back, primarily for MERCS...so I played a bit of that and thought I should give Commando a go again since it had been so long since I played it.

I played Commando for hours that night, so much longer than MERCS, it's a great game.

I mention it as it's a game which is famous for having a good arcade version and many home versions that were uniformly terrible. Should be a good one.

To be fair, I think he's playing in a way which can be repeated multiple times consistently.

Following on from last week's Commando comes MERCS.

Didn't realise there were that many ports of MERCS around.

And no, the MD port (as good as it admittedly is) clearly isn't the best one. That honour obviously belongs to the Saturn/PS1 Capcom Generations 4 port.

I agree that technically the Capcom gen 4 version is the best home port but for actual game content it's the Mega Drive.
