I have finished Koudelka, (RPG set in my home country of Wales? Was bought day one!) and finished SH 1,2 and 3. 2 being my favourite with 3 being a bit ropey if I'm honest- the plot on that was total bollocks.

I like some Tales games, but not others- frankly they are all the same! I've bought and finish Graces and Xillia and there was much if a difference between them and symphonia or Vesperia! Still bought them all though... I including the HD remakes... And Tales of the Abyss of 3DS...

Everyone applauds the combat in tales, I find it messy and unstructured. Being back proper turn based I say!

As the only Tales game I've ever played, I enjoyed Symphonia on release. But thinking back, I can't remember a single thing about the story, and can't name a single one of the characters. That says a lot, given that I still remember games like Grandia and Chrono Trigger by heart.

Suprised that Vandal Hearts hasn't appeared in this thread. I've only played the original, but thought it was a turn based work of genius.
FF Tactics (only played the Psp version) is a wonderful handheld turn based affair.

It's mainly because the.op wanted to avoid rpg's that are faster paced in design rather than Vandal Hearts not being great.

PSP Go has arrived, getting ready for some Grandia now

If anyone else is after a cheap, clean PSP this vendor does them for ?50 brand new and is getting more stock in next week.

Thanks for all the recommendations folks.

Keep reading this thread and I realise I own so many of these RPGs mentioned but either never played them or never finished them.

Recently picked up Grandia on PSN and actually have a physical copy from ages ago but I've never played it. I need to put some time aside and play all these games.

About 3 hours into Grandia now, it's a bit slow to start but wow, it's pretty much the same as the sequel. I can see why people weren't impressed with II now as it's more of the same (not a bad thing) in a pretty dress (deffo not a bad thing) on the Dreamcast (you know what it is).

Still one of the best combat systems ever in any RPG, I can't believe this languished and folks slogged through FFVII instead.

The first Grandia is lavished with incidental details and still remains on of the prettiest games ever.
