Which device is that, and what OS are you using?

It's the Miyoo Mini Plus, with Onion OS beta 4.20.

I think the Nano is too small, with the Mini being the best balance of playability and portability, but I do love the idea of a Keyring-sized version!

This thread is tempting me mightily! But why? I never use any of the handhelds I own...

In strictly theoretical terms, I've gone from favouring the clear purple Miyoo Mini Plus (the plastic seems too transparent in the videos I've watched) to eyeing the white one (it's too white to look nice for very long), deciding the clear black one might be just right (if a little bland) to unexpectedly settling on the grey one for its '80s computer no-nonsense looks'.

I've just found the Mini is the perfect size to pop in your pocket and take with you.
A lot of these other handhelds are great, but you can't put them in your pocket, even the Mini Plus.

I have one of those Mario G&W and took it on holiday. I just found its small size meant it was chucked in our small backpack and brought out in ride queues or waiting for food.

This is what pushed me to getting the mini.
They say the best camera is the one you have one you.
Same for these handhelds. You've more likely to play something it's easy to carry with you.

I have plans for a emulator PC, to replicate the games that play best with a joystick, but for on-the-go gaming, I've loved having a Miyoo Mini.

Whichever colour you pick you absolutely need buttons from Sakura Retro Modding on Etsy. They enhance the look and feel 500%.

They’re so good I told him he should make buttons for OEM devices too. He already does buttons for the Analogue Pocket.

Yeah; I almost went for the Mini Plus yesterday, but I think I'm gonna hold out for the Mini for this reason.

I actually dislike the shoulder buttons on the regular mini. Even my five year-old boy with tiny hands is having difficulty comfortably managing them.

They’re unusable. I can only play four-button games on the V2/V3. With the Plus I can at least play Street Fighter II. That said I don’t use these devices for anything other than GB/GBC/NGPC. MiSTer covers everything else.

I've no doubt the Plus is better for longer gaming sessions, but it's more likely to be when you're at home, where you're more likely to play a full console, PC or a Steam Deck.

However, I'd be happier getting a Miyoo Mini out of my pocket and playing that on the bus, rather than a Steam Deck.
At around £50, I'd be less stressed if something happened to the Mini than a Steam Deck!

Can I ask, if anyone sees the regular Mini on sale from the proper store, can you nudge me?

I got mine from AliExpress for about £50 delivered and it came with a case, screen protector, SD card and a MicroSD to USB adaptor.

Worth browsing on a PC and adding the "AliUp" Chrome addon as it gives a percentage to how reliable the seller is.

At the moment, there are loads of Mini Plus options, but only two Mini V2 and both have 0% or 5% rating.

Makes it less of a Wild West East when buying stuff on there.

Having been burned in the past on AliExpress, I'm only ordering the Mini v3 if I can get it from Miyoo themselves.

No problem and I totally understand, just thought it was worth sharing my experience and ways to avoid potential Chinese burns...

Unrelated - what do people call "Chinese Burns" these days? I know they call "Chinese Whispers" The Telephone Game.

EDIT: Apparently the terms today are "snake bite" and "wrist burn".

I've genuinely wondered the same thing myself and was hesitant to even make the joke, but I'll stand by it for now.

I also wondered if in China, they just called them "burns".
