It's odd, because I love clear plastic tat.
I think it's like you're glimpsing under the hood of the engine, but in reality, it's motionless circuit boards and screws.

Boy, they really went to town with these, didn't they?
The problem is, I don't think any of these helped dissuade the opinion that Nintendo consoles are for kids.

I mean, they all look like bloody lunchboxes!

Yeah, I was never a fan of the clear shells. What I loved about the original N64 was the contrasting dark grey console and light grey controller. Still love the design of the whole package.

EDIT: just clocked Cumberbatch on page 1

Bloody forum won't let me resize pics to make it easier to see. I should tell a mod about it.
Did you see the PS2/Bean ones?

Is there a reason for the console's design? Rather than a square box, that functionally pointless bulge was supposed to suggest a restrained monster underneath, that can't be quite constrained. Am I remembering that right?

          Aye, I saw the Beanster

No idea if the form of the N64 was driven by the internals or purely aesthetic but I always liked it. Looked like it meant business. lol @ the spoiler

Obviously the Diaei Hawks Edition is the best colour.

I think I like watermelon and grape best. The best Cumberbatch image, however, is the Pikachu one.

I couldn't tell you why but ever since it was revealed I've always really liked its design.

There were some great marketing shots for POS in shops which made it look like the future. Then you open the box. It's tough though. Looks like it will take some abuse.

Yep, it's probably amongst the kings of the era where they used to make youtube videos trying to smash Nintendo systems but they kept working

Mine were flung from TV cabinets regularly due to cables, beers/weed, and/or dogs. Those two 'knuckles' at both front corners were seemingly designed with that in mind.

These have just come back in stock. Well worth grabbing.

First time I’ve seen this thread. I have been attracted to transparent console shells in the past year, especially the crystal transparent ps1 shell. Normally I don’t like Smoke Black, but in this case I love it! Probably cos the original console was dark grey.

I will die maintaining that I love the N64's design, always thought it was a good looking system even if I can't explain why and it often looked good in alternative colours.
