Not sure why, but I'm still watching Triffids.

I caught the end, still in the dark about Torrance...some funny moments though, funny as in crap.

Yes, in that sense it was truly hilarious.

Triffids... Rubbish. The word contrived also comes to mind. Bad guys standing around in the open so that the Triffids could get them, for instance. Every expense was spared, especially on continuity, dialog and story.

Continuity was let down somewhat by an S reg Escort that re-appeared later in a completely different location (thought the registration was familiar).

          Dialog...

(Extra) They can't see. (or words to that effect anyway)
          (Hero) I don't understand.

          Seemed pretty clear to me.

Any resemblance to the book I suspect was purely coincidental.

Also Eddie Izzard was "responsible" for some serious over-acting at one point.

I was expecting Torrance to be from the future or an alien or something! When

he first appears on the plane he walks about looking at the blind as if he expected it to happen and seemed to know what to do to survive. Other than that he liked looking at Winston Churchill a lot and erm died in a truly rubbish way.

I'm gonna try and forget I saw it, poxy triffids nonesense.

This is EXACTLY what I was expecting!

I don't know if that bit at the start was just to set his character up as being someone who would quite happily sacrifice the lives of others in order to protect himself... i.e when he steals all the life jackets?

Oh dear, I've seen the first part and want resolution, but it sounds like I shouldn't bother!

I don't watch Dr Who... but is Triffids generally what passes for Sci Fi on UK tv's?

Enjoyed the Pixar cartoons on BBC3 last night, three more tonight 7pm.

There is actually some good stuff on the TV. It seems that most of it managed to avoid the Christmas period. As far as I was concerned there was very little that I desperately wanted to watch.

Thanks Ampanman, forgot they were on last night.

I think the BBC need to give it a bleedin' rest with their "sci-fi" "drama" programmes, they are all identical virtually, i.e. totally crap.

oh dear. it really was rubbish. I was watching it and it seemed interesting but it just got worse and worse.

I was expecting some kind of evil conspiracy to be going on after watching flashforward and fringe. I still don't understand how it was eddy izzard's character seemed so evil and was so calm even during the plane crash which he had nothing to do with?!

                            Indeed.

Thought process?: *wakes up* 'Oh, the plane is going down. All these people are blind? That must mean the whole world is blind! That means I can steal everyone's life jackets, and when I emerge from the wreckage covered in life jackets, no-one will ask any questions. Because they are blind. Then I can lead a rival faction in a struggle for post-apocalyptic supremacy.'

All perfectly logical when the plane you're on is going down...

The Turn of the Screw is good so far. Michelle Dockery is very beautiful and talented.

Isn't this "2009 Unwrapped with Miranda Hart" programme just a blatant rip-off of "2008 (or was it 2007?): The Stupid Version" that had Stewart Lee, Armando Ianucci, etc in it?
