Haven't made any wild asuumptions on the 'clues' so far, some/most of them are bound to be red herrings.

Feeling knackered today as i was caught up in a 'must watch the next episode' session last night until 4am.

In the US from the 19th so should be catching the next series opener for real, a couple of beers and a takeaway Filet from Uno's will do me quite nicely.

All the people who don't like the flashbacks, well something has obvioudsly gone flying over your head, as this is the whole point of the show tbh.

Well I've watched however far we are up to on E4 (6 episodes?) and I have to disagree with you. The whole concept - crash land on a spooky island filled with scary monsters - puts the viewer immediately into Scooby-Doo mode.
Ok, it's nice to have some back story to flesh out the characters, but we also need progress on the here-and-now.

The point of the flashbacks is that they tease you with the notion that all the characters are there for a reason and are interrelated. Without that, it's just people running around on an island with Big Scary Monsters.

So for now it's people with personal issues running around on an island with big scary monsters.

* Unless I missed something while I was doing the washing up. The knife guy mentions it but I assume he's a wannabe wacko.

I've only seen the 6 on E4, and how are they linked? Other than the doctor guy standing infront of the two Korean characters who were next to one another in the airport. No one else is linked, oh and most of them know the guy whos in the band but thats like completely indirect and uninteresting.

I've seen the entire series and thought the flashbacks were far too frequent. Yes they add detail to each character, but many were 100% pointless and added nothing at all.

I seriously think they could have done 1/4 of the flashbacks and got every bit of important info in there. I suspect they are there simply to spin out the island's story over more episodes.

Nope. I shall not be moved. I've only just finished watching it on dvd and a lot of my enjoyment was spoiled by being previously irresistably drawn to threads on sites full of spoilers.

If you don't like being teased, you really shouldn't watch Lost. It's obvious they're going to drag it out as long as possible. The whole premise is one big tease-fest.

I don't really get why people are complaining about the flashbacks. They ARE the bulk of the show, its a two-pronged attack though, the flashbacks make you care about the characters and the island sections are the suspense sections.

However, if you find yourself annoyed by the flashbacks I'd stop watching now.

I'm really pissed off that the first two episodes from season two will air whilst I'm in spain!

I think some people are maybe missing the importance and nuances of the flashbacks. 99% of it relates directly to why they are on the island, or why they are acting how they are on the island, or why they have taken the role they have on the island, or why they like who they do on the island. Sometimes the importance of the flashbacks will reveal itself a few episodes down the line.
