Sun was on the boat and shot that women but we never found out what happened to her beyond that. Likewise Jin & Sayid were ashore - the episode ended with Sun shooting the woman and that was the last we knew of that story thread.

What happened is

Sun shoots the lady, the Others hear the shot and start the boat and also try to shoot Sun. Sayid and Jin hear the boat start and run back to it. Sun jumps into the water to esacpe the Other and Jin jumps in to save Sun. Basically then Sayid says sorry for the trouble and admits his plan was wrong, he then tells them they should head back to the camp.

Yeah, I knew I hadn't imagined it ... the simplest explanation is usually right. All this "smoke monster" hoopla is pushing it a bit ... I really hope it doesn't go down such a dumb route.

I agree. I think either Desmond was saved by something (not the black smoke) or has been resurrected (might explain why he was naked). I mentioned this earlier in the thread, but the writers have been hinted for ages about the backgammon game seen in episode 1 is a big clue to the whole thing. We've all seen the black smoke, but when

Locke spoke to Eko above the Pearl hatch he said he saw a white light and it was beautiful

, now the episode where Locke had this encounter you didn't actually see the black smoke, you were just looking from the point of view of whatever it was, but everyone assumes it was the black smoke. Check the expression on Locke's face:

Any confirmation of Lost overtaking the US showing times on Sky One? they're on episode 3 tonight and abc have got to episode 6. So in 3 weeks time Sky would've caught up.

From February Sky will be showing it 4 days after the US airing. Likewise, the new series of 24 will only be 7 days after the US.

oh my god i didn't even notice that, had to quickly rewatch that bit in last episode and he's stood there with locke and that lot with no explanation. either someones getting the sack or something is afoot
