I will know it, it would of been better without that guy who is the current 'in thang' doing the voice , as it's pretty irritating.

I agree about Despicable Me, not awful but one of the biggest animated disappointments of 2010. Were it not for Toy Story 3, How to Train Your Dragon would be my animated pick of the year.
Watched Machete. Though not as bad as the previous Grindhouse films, it was still a turd. A blatant attempt at the knowing 'so bad its good' films with quotable lines and OTT action but it fails at it miserably. Danny Trejo is a likeable background actor and its amusing that he turns up in so many films but leading man? No. He's terrible in this and watching the women clamber of him is stomach turning. For all it's flaws Predators was decent enough to show that Rodriguez can do a decently made film, he just needs to sort himself out.
Also watched Titanic. This'll seem weird after the Machete comments but it was alright and has aged better than I expected it to have done so given it's knocking 13-14 years old. The chick flick elements still hold it back and it's too slow off the mark but it sure as hell puts Avatar to shame

Downfall:
Watched this last night and found it quite an interesting watch, have to admit i'm not a history buff so alot of it was new information to me, seeing the last moments of Hitler was interesting stuff, only problem was one scene which kept reminding me of all those re-subtitled stuff 've seen on youtube, took me out of the experience for a moment.
Will be watching Deer Hunter tonight for the first time.

Rambo First Blood
Noticed it was on again last night. Started to watch it, thinking that I would watch the beginning and that would be it, but got sucked into the entire thing. Again. A really well-contained film, with a great performance from Stallone. The atmosphere of the film is excellent.
Before that I saw Police Story on syfy channel. A rotten English dub. However, the action ... I almost forgot how amazing it is. It COCK PISSES all over anything Hollywood has done, even though it's 25 years old. There's so much imagination and rhythm to the choreography, the stuntwork is jawdropping, and the end scene in the mall is perhaps one of the best action sequences ever put to film. The Jackie Chan Stunt team were true pioneers.Last edited by prinnysquad; 04-12-2010, 18:31.

Just finished watching Bad Boy Bubby which I'd only found out about a few days ago.
When I read about it first of all I really didn't want to watch it as it sounded awful but it's had awards thrown at it and some reviews sound very positive. I say some as it seems to have really split people and some desperately this film which I can understand.
I really don't like to say too much about films as I feel that every time you do say something about a film that you also take something away from the film when you do that.
On it's most basic level it's about a 35 year old man/boy who lives with an abusive mother and without going into too much detail, in those 35 years he's only ever seen the one room with no windows that he lives in.
He's essentially a child as he has no understanding of anything outside that room. He can't communicate properly but he can repeat things that he has heard somebody else say even if he doesn't understand what it means which is hilarious at times.
Anyway, stuff happens, Dad returns and he ends up outside the house and the remainder of the film is him in a Forrest Gump type role.
I typed out a load more but I think it's best not to. I was going to post a trailer but I really couldn't find one which I'd be allowed to post here so I've downloaded this where he sort of joins a band and this is his first performance.
There is a LOT of bad swearing so be careful where you watch it. Again, bear in mind the fact at this point he can only really repeat what he's heard other people say.
Nick Cave?
I really enjoyed the film and there's some genuinely lovely parts to it but it is really oppressive while he's inside the room and I did feel really uncomfortable watching those parts. There's some fantastic moments once he's out though but I can imagine people just having enough of it at the beginning of the film.Last edited by JP; 10-05-2011, 01:02.

Deer Hunter:
I gotta be honest I found this film decent but dissapointing.
Triumph of the Spirit:
Spotted this on ITunes and thought i'd give it a shot, Willem Dafoe and Edward James Olmos, its all based in a WW2 death camp, Dafoe boxes for the germans entertainment which helps him survive, quite enjoyed this film, its by no means great or anything but i'd say its certainly above average and worth watching.

How did you find the first thirty minutes as I found it really difficult to watch? I'm trying to track down a few of the director's other films but I can't imagine they're anything like this although they do all sound a little off centre.
I particularly like the sound of The Quiet Room.
I wouldn't mind seeing other films with Nicholas Hope in although I'm half thinking that he was just in the perfect role for the way he acts.
