Of course you're allowed an opinion of your own - what probably isn't looked upon as favorably though is considering the opinion you were responding to to be a joke, which you did. I might have thought you were little odd for your glowing, unfathomable reverence for Crystal Skull, I'd never have called your opinion of it a joke though.
There, I've said everything I have to say on the matter now

Secondly, I find it hard to believe anyone would actually seriously consider John Carter to be a terrible film, as it has many good qualities, all of which Geoff seemed to ignore, which is why I asked if it was a joke, becuase that's how what he said came across to me. If it annoyed him and he told me so I would apologize, but he didnt, and I'm certainly not going to apologize to you, someone who is almost always rude to me and constantly looking for a fight.

Once i knew moxys opinion of john carter, i intentionally sidestepped mentioning it in this thread.
....And i will continue to do so.
Thats from someone who suffers from OCD to a good extent too.

LOL at the last few pages.
Anyway, I watched Children of Men last night for the first time in a few years and it is superb. The bit near the end where
they leave the under-attack building and everyone just stands in awe
was done perfectly.
Quite fancy watching Inception again tonight if I get the time.

I can't believe more people haven't tried to rip off the action scenes in children of men actually, they have really creative uses of the camera and it makes them much more exciting than your average shoot out.
Maybe most directors just don't have the guts to try things like that?
I think Safe recently did somthing similar actually but it wasn't quite as effective, although that was a pretty enjoyable film overall.

EDIT:
I should probably talk about another film I saw recently (or rather will be seeing again).
Anyone else seen kaufman's Synecdoche New York?
It's simultaneously the best and worst film I've ever seen in my life. I keep a rusty VHS with a TV recording of it, which I subject all visiting guests to. My brother is visiting, so I'm going to force him to watch it. At gunpoint.
DESCRIPTION, SKETCZ STYLE:
Basically, it's about this guy (Philip Seymour Hoffman) who gets some money, so he decides to make a play. The play is about himself, where he recreates the previous day's events. Then his wife leaves him and kidnaps their daughter away to Germany so she can become a lesbian and cover her daughter with tattoos. Anyway, Hoffman then starts dating some actress in his daily play, who he then marries. He continues to rehearse this play about the previous day's events in his life for the next 50 years.
The best bit is: he gets an actor to play him, and then he gets an actor to play the actor playing him for the benefit of the actor actually playing him.
Funniest thing is the ass touching. Because the actor playing him touches his second wife's ass. And she says "that guy is touching my ass!" But Hoffman says "But he's your husband" after which she screams that he's her husband. I mean, basically the guy pays another guy to touch his own wife's ass. Because his wife plays his actual wife, but he is played by an actor in his own play, who has an actor playing him again. Crazy. Then he has an affair with his secretary, or rather the actress playing his secretary for the benefit of the actor playing him, rather than his actual secretary who really hates him. Then he runs away to Germany to find his first daughter who's become a stripper.
It's the kind of bat**** insanity you watch while high on strong flu medicine. It's like an insaner version of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, except with less drugs, and a depressed playwright.
Did I mention his secretary lives in a house which is permanently on fire?
I probably like it for all the wrong reasons (proxy based ass touching).Last edited by Sketcz; 11-07-2012, 08:21.

The Amazing Spiderman - I quite enjoyed this; it's not a great flick, but it's pretty entertaining & Andrew Garfield did a decent job as Peter Parker. I was never particularly enamoured with Raimi's films (certainly not the 3rd) so am not fussed about the reboot/reimagining/rewind/whatever they're calling it. Emma Stone was very good as Gwen Stacey as well - far less irritating that Kirsten Dunst's MJ (& man, those big eyes - be still my heart)
It has some issues of course; I understand they have to retread the origin story for a new audience blah blah blah, but it took far too long to get going; also they underused Rhys Ifans' talents.
Still, pretty good stuff & pleasantly surprising - the Stan Lee cameo has to be the best yet in a Marvel film.

Oh god.
Oh god.
I've done '89. Watched Returns. Built up to Forever, which was worse than I remembered. Now I'm six minutes into Batman and Robin and there have already been around five Freeze one-liners, the Batmobile has an open cockpit and Robin has just left a Robin symbol-shaped hole in a door by bursting through it on his motorbike.
I'm getting a drink.
