I'm wondering if this is a good price?

MovieTyme have Heroes: Season 2 on pre-order for ?29:99 which I'm guessing is a fair price for this this as it's 4 BDs? They also have Heroes: Season 1 for sale at ?44:99 which really suggests the pre-order price for season 2 is good.

I've never actually seen this show but quite a few of my mates really like it. Do people think it's worth the ?29:99?

Season 2 is a third of the episodes hence the price

I got bored about two thirds of the way into season one waiting for things to happen. I'm led to believe this is the norm for US TV shows like this (Lost, Prison Break etc...) but I'll be screwed if I'm going to watch 20+ episodes for about 5 episodes worth of content.

Shame as well, because I like [most of] the characters and the premise.

Yeah I agree, and tends to be a problem with US series that try to play out one big story. An average of 22 episodes is just too many for that sort of thing.

At least with stuff like StarTrek or X-Files there might have been an ultimate goal playing out but 90% of the episodes where individual stories in their own right with the odd two parter thrown in for good measure.

Just bought Shrooms (hoping it's good ) and it's only got a DD5.1 soundtrack. WTF? Even Sony's awful Day One titles had uncompressed PCM and one of their biggest profile horrors in years has 'just' DD5.1@640kbps? Not cool

Producer: Fox Plotting to Bring 'X-Files' Movies to Blu-ray
As first revealed on www.xfiles.com, producer Frank Spotnitz surprised devotees with a posting to his blog revealing tantalizing details of first-ever Blu-ray and standard DVD re-issue versions of the first big-screen 'X-Files' film.

"We are working on packing the [re-issued] DVD and Blu-Ray DVD releases with as many extras as they will fit, including video and audio commentaries, behind-the-scenes footage, bloopers, trailers, a new documentary, and several other cool surprises," said Spotnitz.
No planned release window was provided, but Spotnitz further hinted that plans are also underway to bring the upcoming 'X-Files' theatrical sequel 'I Want to Believe' to Blu-ray and DVD as well, the concurrent release of 'Fight the Future' appears likely.

Though the news is certainly music to 'X-Files' fans' ears, those hoping to see a Blu-ray release of the original television series will remain disappointed -- Spotnitz says there are currently "no plans" to bring any seasons of the show to high-def.
'Hellraiser,' 'Children of the Corn' Planned for Blu-ray
There's no date yet, but Anchor Bay says it is planning to bring the '80s horror faves 'Hellraiser' and 'Children to the Corn' to Blu-ray sometime in the next few months.

Two of the most popular scarefests of their time, both 'Hellraiser' and 'Children of the Corn' would go on to amass their own devoted cult followings as well as spawn a seemingly never-ending series of sequels.

With both titles among the hottest DVD sellers in Anchor Bay's library, the company says they are currently planning to bring both the original 'Hellraiser' and 'Children of the Corn' to Blu-ray as early as this Halloween, or at the latest by the first quarter of 2009.

Given the early nature of the news, there is no word on specs or supplemental details, although both titles have recently been remastered in HD for airing on cable and satellite networks.

We'll certainly keep you posted as soon as further word from Anchor Bay comes to us. Stay tuned.
It's a shame that the X-Files series isn't on the way yet as I'd really like to get hold of it on BD.

In better news though my local HMV has tripled the shelf space they have for blu-rays this week...well aright, it's only good news for me but at least it shows that the major retailers are at least starting to push the format more.

There's still about 4 or 5 times as much shelf space for DVDs though so there is a long way to go yet.

Whilst I'm actually glad about the lack of series boxsets of Bluray (already have all 9 seasons on VHS and DVD) I will pick up the first movie if it has nice extras. The original DVD release I have seemed to come from an era where "Scene Selection" was listed high up on the extras listing and contains very little.

                      It's still happening sadly.

Just got hold of the Pal Blu-Ray of Terminator 2 and the only extras are video and audio set-up (no really)...

What did they use to shoot the XFiles TV show? I don't think it was a betacam, it may have been film.

16 and 35mm for the most part i think, but they were 4:3 and it would cost alot to remaster them for fox, I think the sfx were done at 480 too mind you if they kept it at 480p you could fit alot of episodes on a Dl disc

It was definitely film, not sure what videotape format it was edited on, but they'll need to do it all over again... so probably won't.

Well at least there's film out there, so maybe one day.... yeah yeah I know

Off topic, but it's about time the Brits started shooting TV on film, it really makes a huge difference.
