It was pure luck I stumbled across it - was looking on www.find-dvd.co.uk to see which Blu-rays were in the top sellers (and the cheapest prices of course) and there it was. Clicked the link Amazon link and hey presto - I have a pre-order!

L'Illusionniste has just been announced as getting a blu-ray release in May in the US.
It's been available on blu-ray in France for a while as well as in a box set including Belleville Rendez-vous but Pathé somehow managed to output the DTS HD audio channels to the wrong speakers which meant I didn't bother picking it up.
No real details yet of what will be included but Chomet has a bit of unreleased material available which would be to see. There has long been rumours that there are preparation scenes from his version of The Tale of Despereaux available but I can't see Universal ever wanting him to benefit from those after his less than auspicious time on the film.
EDIT:
I'd been lead to believe that the next Studio Ghibli blu-ray release over here was Laputa: Castle In The Sky but some retailers are now listing two for May.
My Neighbours The Yamadas (09/05/11)
Laputa: Castle In The Sky (09/05/11)
It's not confirmation that both will be released then but I'm yet to see either of them so it'd be nice if it was true.
To be fair though, both will probably be sidelined for me with Chico & Rita also being due on the 9th May due out on the same date and one of my favourite animated films for quite some time.

For anybody who is interested the Sharktopus theme tune is by a band called the Cheetah Whores.
I mention this as they have now announced their next blu-ray release for June, it's Mega Python vs. Gatoroid or Tiffany vs. Debbie Gibson depending on your preferred title.

Alright, last post here for the day...promise.
Just had the monthly release email from Criterion and it's looking like June is going to be bloody expensive. As always, some of the releases had been teased for a while but it's really nice to finally have them confirmed.
It's good to see another couple of Louis Malle's more experimental works following on from this month's Au revoir les Enfants.
The Makioka Sisters - Kon Ichikawa (14/06/11)
Insignificance - Nicolas Roeg (14/06/11)
Kiss Me Deadly - Robert Aldrich (21/06/11)
Zazie dans le M?tro - Louis Malle (28/06/11)
Black Moon - Louis Malle (28/06/11)
People on Sunday - Robert Siodmak & Edgar G. Ulmer (28/06/11)
