Well that's possibly good news then! What was the HD-DVD version like before?

Your avatar sort of gives the impression that you were hoping for something along those lines lol.

I was never a big fan ofthe film myselF! I just can't escape the fact that I can tell it was filmed in te UK and those palm trees don't encourage that illusion at all.

Am I the only person who feels that you can tell when a film was shot in the UK due t the colour of the light and sky?

The HD-DVD apparantly looked and sounded similar to the Blu Ray allbeit with a VC-1 transfer and 640kbps Dolby Digital Plus soundtrack.

I just got notice from Movietyme that my deluxe one is in processing so hopefully i'll have it by the weekend or early next week. Early comments on US forums suggest it looks very nice so fingers are very crossed!

Its very much a film of two halves of course, Act 1 - Bootcamp being one of my very favorite (part!) movies with exquisite dialogue. Act 2 is just decent...

Just watched 28 weeks later, apart from all the day for night shots, its a stunning transfer

Full Metal Jacket review now up on High Def Digest and it would seem that at least it is an improvement on the earlier HD and DVD release...

Following a dismal initial Blu-ray outing for 'Full Metal Jacket' back in 2006, the video transfer on this 'Deluxe Edition' is an appreciable improvement. Likewise, the included PCM track is probably as good it's going to get, and we even get a couple of worthwhile supplements, a first for 'Full Metal Jacket' on any format. Alas, even in upgraded form, I still can't give this one an unqualified rave, but it is a perfectly respectable effort that's no longer a rotten apple in Warner's high-def library.
          Can't wait

            That's good news!

Still a shame that it moves from being an absolutely stunning film in part 1 to being good but not Kubrick good in part 2!

I'll definately be getting these from MovieTyme shortly though...

Watched DieHard 4 the other day and thought it was stunning. Couldn't really fault the picture or the fabulous surround sound.

And the interview between Kevin Smith and Bruce was a nice watch too.

                          Pixar's Cars: Blu-ray Review

Not going to post the review here in case you don't want to know but with comments such as:

'Cars' looks absolutely fantastic on Blu-ray. I have not a single nitpick -- every last pixel appears to be perfectly in place, and every aspect of the presentation is exemplary.
                          and...

The highly aggressive surrounds really make things crackle. There is never a dull moment, with discrete effects consistent and often striking. The pedal really reaches the metal during the race scenes -- the crowd noises, car sounds and other effects all combine to create a full 360-degree effect. Directionality, accuracy of placement and transparency of imaging are all first-rate. Atmosphere and score bleed are also fun and lively, so even when the film gets quieter, it still sounds engaging and fresh.
                          and...
...it seems to be worth picking up to show off your system if for no other reason at all.

I watched Bram Stoker's Dracula last night. Pah, despite the praise the disc's PQ has been receiving in some well respected circles, I don't remember it looking this dull and murky at the flicks...and I watched it 3 times! I used to have a major crush on Winona Ryder, before she went a bit mental, y'see.

                                The extras are good, though.
