The US uses VC-1 also as opposed to AVC that the UK and US Discover Channel version uses.

The UK version is the only one with the extras on. I don't use 1080i myself so may well go for the UK set.
Will I be able to spot much of a difference between the two sets as I will be watching in 720p anyway? Should I expect much of a difference between downscaled 1080i & 1080p?
EDIT:
Changed from 1080p to 720p.Last edited by JP; 25-11-2007, 16:53.

I've had mine on pre-order from MovieTyme for ages now. As it's not out until the 18th I'm really not expecting it until after Christmas.
I'm not sure what it's like for international postage on things like this over that period though.
I've gone for the standard 5 disc set rather than the briefcase as it didn't really have anything I wanted.
I have visions of airport security performing "controlled explosions" on the 1000s briefcase sets being imported here due to the additional terrorism paranoia there will probably be over Christmas.

Purely on video terms, I'd rather have the US version because, assuming they've done their job properly, there's less to go wrong.

I find HD stuff looks better on my display in 720p than it does in 1080i.
Got Hairspray to watch with the missus tomorrowdirty trick to lure her into liking HD more and more so she might start picking up a few titles too bwahaha. It must be starting to work as she's wanting to pick me up a few films for xmas.

I'm just wondering if it's a disc problem or something to do with the upcoming 1.1 profile?
Any advice would be appreciated.
I really hate the menus and the way it's set out for this film. I just watched one of the extras, and it had some bonus footage (hidden footage, basically, that you click on to watch)
Before I clicked on it, it was supposed to last 8 minutes. After I went back to it, it was 5 minutes. So I've lost something there. I went to another bonus clip and back again...now it was back to 8 minutes. Then I pressed next chapter accidentally (instead of fast forward) and it went to something else entirely. So I went back and I'm now on a totally different chapter that's 2 minutes long. Did the same thing again (forward a chapter, then back) and I'm somewhere completely different to where I wanted. By this point I have absolutely no idea where I am, how to get back to what I was watching, or even how to get back to the main menu
Is this really necessary?Give us a list of features on the main menu (one without loading times, plz)...then, if you want a lite-version or the full-version, ask the user to select. Then they press play and watch it. THAT'S ALL THAT WE WANT!!
If I can get 'lost' going through these menus then how the hell are the general population going to survive? Disney have made it far too complex and it's basically a complete mess if you try and use any of the advanced features...if you're lucky enough to have a Bluray player that actually runs themLast edited by RLench; 26-11-2007, 13:30.
