It is ?14.99, probably a misprice just like the HD-DVD Matrix boxset was mispriced at ?19.99. In other 'news' I finally finished watching Blade Runner last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. It looked very good in HD for a 'old' film, some of the shots of Neo LA looked stunning. If you're a fan of the film then a definate for your collection

Don't think that Close Encounters is a misprice - HMV have it for £13.99 online.

Also, everyone seems to be doing the 3for2 offers on BluRay - even Play have it here

Lyris, any idea if this is being pushed by the BDA or if it's just coincidence that all this is happening? There does seem to be blu-ray offers all over the place at the moment and many shops seem to suddenly have twice as many ads in store for blu-ray exclusive films?

Why ever it's happening, it's gotta be good news for the people who want the films! All these price reductions are costing me a bloody fortune though.

They didn't send me any memos but yes, I'm assuming this is part of the BDA's strategy - keep sales brisk to keep confidence in the format high. It certainly isn't a bunch of stores trying to clear titles out on their own.

Lol but as the closest that we have to a man on the inside I thought that you may have been aware of something specific!

They seem to have done the bloody job as I've bought over 10 in the past week, I've just ordered 3 from Play and many of them aren't even the high profile films that I probably would have been concentrating on this season due to quite a few new releases!

I noticed that in HMV that one of the HD-DVD shelves has been stacked with blu-rays as of last week.

I suppose they are after some visible chart entries and sales figures leading up to Christmas this year. I imagine that they will be hoping that Warner will be keeping an eye on these sales over this period too.

Yeah, and for me - this is the first time I've bought BDs in the UK! Good thing the ones I've picked are region free.

Virgin (or "Zammo" or whatever they're calling it now) up here in Glasgow had the HD DVD endcap filled half-up with Blu-ray Discs. Don't get me wrong, I love both formats now that they're both delivering, but I let Toshiba know about it simply because that's the sort of extra confusion nobody needs. They appreciated it.

Strange you should say that as one of my mates works in Woolies and claims that they've had quite a few HD-DVDs returned to them due to people trying to play them in DVD players!

I was surprised as I'm not sure how people could confuse them both due to the differences in packaging and price. He's saying that his manager has told them to ask people if they have a HD-DVD player if they are buying discs now.

My mates more than a touch embarrassed about it due to being a bit of a HD buff. I can just imagine him asking "But are you sure that you have a HD-DVD player?"

It sounds like one of those crap 1999 internet "portal" sites that tried to be good at everything. Wonder who's idea it was to change it.

Oh, it has two Vs in it, I get it - I was trying to get to it from memory, but kept spelling it with two As and then again with two Is. I just thought the new site wasn't up yet. What a lousy name.
