Not sure what all the fuss is about surrounding Ghostbuster's supposed quality on blu-ray. Wasn't overly impressed by the 5 minutes of it I saw on display in HMV yesterday. I'd go as far as to say that the god awful double film set master copy that this was taken from would look just as good run through an upscaler.

At the point of the movie that I actually bothered to watch (Rick Moranis's character being dropped off by the police at GB HQ) the image looked overly blurred, quite patchy and generally lacking in clarity. Now I understand that this is a 25 year old movie, but if something like Doctor No can look as good as recent releases then there's really no excuse.

I would never judge any disc by the displays in a HMV

While I'm sure incorrect configuration would affect the image to a degree, what I was seeing was most likely, to a large extent, down to the movie itself.

I'd give you my own honest appraisal of the GB picture, but a) I've resolved not to watch any new films until I get my new TV (50" Pioneer Plasma, woo!) and b) my eyes are broken.

I got GB on blu the other day and I'm fairly pleased with it. It's miles better than the last DVD transfer. If you can't see that, you need to check yourself before you wet yourself.

LOTR extended cut blu ray in 2011 I will not buy normal cut Blu ray, as I don't want them I will just watch them on DVD instead.

I have been waiting for my new TV for a month and been holding off watching blu rays and House MD on Sky HD until I got it.

Wasn't sure where to post this but Oppo have just released their first blu-ray player. Sounds like a decent bit of kit which I suppose is expected from Oppo.

My Watchmen Director's Cut turned up today. Not seen the film yet, so hoping to get it on as soon as the kids are in bed.
